Best lamp dog you've ever seen !!

Recommended Posts

Probably not the "best", (there are any amount of very good, unsung dogs out there doing the business night in night out.), but old "Bruce the Rescue Dog" rarely dissapointed on the lamp, and was a more than handy day dog aswell;

Not seen alot of dogs run but the one that really impressed me was hogies wee 1/2 bred bull x 21" tts seen her catch on all sorts of land and even catching rabbits on the golf course.

Deputydogs Molly saluki/bull/grey is another gutsy dog that didnt miss much and wouldn't let go of anything once in her teeth.

Worse one I seen was a dh/collie/gh which soon as it was slipped yapped like feck and worked a field till the owner managed to catch it .

saw several good dogs owned a few , numbers doesnt meen there good dogs , as i saw dogs catch hundreds of rabbs couldnt bend a strong buck or hare, with ahead start , but could snap up 60 plus rabs on the dales or borders of scotland easy runningland in places, i like a dog that doesnt stalk to much, doesnt pick his kills and will run the end of the beam and sometimes the qaurry is 100 yards out ,or more ,will follow with head up till he puts the pace on, and will run out the beam and kill at times ,

I think your wrong there whin, a dog that can bring home 60 rabbits no matter where your running is a tidy dog imo..

best i've seen have all had collie in their make up but there are lots of good honest anonymous dogs out there whose abilities perhaps are kept a little quiet with all the anti's and dog thieves etc out there, best person to ask is the local game dealer
