Tail docking ,what is the correct length

Taking a third off approx was what I was told when I 1st done it, & worked out

I've always taken a third off as well: interesting to note that even at 3 days old a litter of pups won't all have the same length of tail: so its a third off the tail in question, no matter if the resulting bits removed are of different lengths when compared to each other.
