dummy to bird

Recommended Posts

Stuff the dead bird into a cut down pair of tights with just the head poking out. If she'll pick that then expose the tail and gradually show more of the bird as she picks it with confidence.

It may also be worth trying a different kind of bird. Pigeons have very loose feathers and your dog may not like getting a mouthful of them.

This is it, a pigeon is not the ideal training bird. At this time of year granted its difficult to get different birds to try them on so the tights idea can be a way around it. Or you could take a few loose feathers of the bird first....make a bit of fuss over the bird and try and get the pup interested before you throw it. It will do it eventually, maybe just not ready......

Just not long been down this road, used quail in tights.

I'd have thought a pair of trousers would have been warmer....was it the weekend Waz....?...

ive seen some dogs refuse to pick a "cold" bird up yet have no problem with fresh [warm] birds so if you havent tried a warm bird give that a go 1st mate and see what happens but it will come together in the end -billy
