Gaz_1989 9,539
I think there are pros and cons with both. I used to have mine inside and whilst essentially you can form a better bond, I find they get under your feet and they are always there when you are pissed off with something else and end up getting the blame. Mine seem to like living out and when I do go to see them it is quality time with my undivided attention instead of just moping around the house. Gaz Quote Link to post
black recking it 730
right cold wet night i think take,s it,s toll a bit more on the dog kept in the house if they are tight coated just my opinion Quote Link to post

KittleRox 2,147
right cold wet night i think take,s it,s toll a bit more on the dog kept in the house if they are tight coated just my opinion you,re probably right, I also think if kept in the house they become more in tune with you though, a closer pack mentality if you like imo Quote Link to post
border lad 1,047
I find with the saluki x they enjoy the close contact, they seem to be more comfortable with the close contact of the house, and of course the handler, the down side, every time you use the dog in wet conditions its straight into the shower, soon as you come home,, the normal british x collie, deerhound, terrier cross, dry them straight into the kennel and they are happy, and thrive in the kennel situation, AS for performance, I dont think there is any difference,,, except as I said the saluki type loves the close contact,,, the beardie collie type with his heavy coat they prefere the outdoors,, and really a dogs place is outside in his kennel, his own space, 1 Quote Link to post

STAFFY poacher 90
i kept mine in till 1 year old to get the bond and training sorted then in the kennel never phased her really Quote Link to post
black recking it 730
i have been out in some outragous conditions with my old dog and by no mean,s is he weather shy and i no for a fact he didnt like it one bit as he was trying to stand in behind me i recon if a dog kept in the house was there that day and had a tight coat would have suffered due to the weather more so than a dog kept outside but not all dog,s there will be exceptions 1 Quote Link to post
Lab 10,979
more trouble in the house, far better for all if they can be kennelled. good for all concerned to have their own space, although i have a dog in the house and dogs in kennells I li I like having a dog in the house, stops me being lonely Also, it's a handy security device. Wouldnt have more than one living in though! less chance of them being stolen as well Thats the only good reason for a dog being in the house. The rest are shite!! The dog doesn't want to be there. If your nice and warm watching the tv that means the dog is f*****g roasting. And yes i believe that a dog kept indoors will be softer than a dog that lives outside. All my opinions of course................. Quote Link to post
