terrier and lurcher show, wingate, county durham

Recommended Posts

The way I red the post with the class list was that 50% of the fun classes proceeds go to charity lads don't think it all does or maybe iv picked it up wrong.

For charity shows or whatever your better giving people a chance to donate. If people see it as a rip off and people kickin the arse out it they won't show in the first place like someone's said less is more, I always try to support hunt shows and when we drive through the gate if there's a donation wel be kind same gos for terrier or lurcher club shows and the same would go for a charity show. Give people a chance to be generous you'll get a good sum, try rip people off sadly youl go without.

'Rooster, why don't your friends come on, (it's easy enough to join), and explain a bit better ? With the negative responces they are getting here, I doubt anyone will go to their show, which would be a pity if a charity is going to miss out.

Cheers.

Well said young Saiger, I remember the show at Spenny very well, I judged it and as you said it was a very successful with a good amount of cash raised for charity, Good venue and good prices so the organisers of Wingate need to get their act together this weekend as there are penty of other shows taking place within striking distance.

Gamerooster isnt replying with any info on the questions that are being put forward. I wont be going to the show but dont like seeing people getting ripped off etc. asha i hope there is a cross bred class as u will know. Majority of good working ters are of cross breading. And these shows are working dog shows. But more and more i am seeing the shows go towards beeing for show dogs not workers.

I got to agree on that. I'll be perfectly honest; I got my terrier bitch by accident. She's 4 now and she was a pet. I hadn't much clue about working dogs until about a year ago so she has only been after tailies and mice since then. My next terrier will be started out properly, becuase I've an interest in in it now but I do get a bit disheartened seeing dogs that have been bred for the 'big' shows gettin all the glory at the working shows. From what I've heard off people in the know, some of the people (not all) who are showing terriers at these working shows won't even let their dogs off a lead on walks, say they can't in case they take off and don't come back. That's madness to me and certainly ot going to make a dog even the stamp of a working terrier

I've prob just alienated everybody on here saying that, those that work seriously and those who just like the shows  but I feel that unless your dog has at least tasted some kind of vermin of it's own catching, then it shouldn't be in a working show.

*prepares to be ripped to shreds*
