paulk73 151
im looking to buy a range finder. need some suggestions on some of the lower priced options. i believe there is 1 model that has a pin point setting so that you can pick out small objects at distance, instead of picking up the bigger back grounds. any help would be appriciated. cheers guys Quote Link to post

zini 1,939
I think the one you are talking about is the MTC Rapier LRF. From all reports its brilliant. £138 Si. Quote Link to post

davyt63 1,845
hi buddy i use a guntuff range finder, but they have updated the model now! and it goes from 10/400yds i think. this is no good you need a LRF that will go from 4/5yds to 400yds/further,and I will tell you why,if you want to calibrate you LFR to your scope, then you need 5yds especially for ratting.if it dosent go under 4/5yds then dont buy it. have a look around on the bay and the like regards Davy Quote Link to post
paulk73 151
I had a look for the MTc range finder, but they had none left, and said it would be months before they get any more in. That's how fast they are selling. The guy at bar said the next best one was the nikko Stirling one. It ranges out from 1 yrd/ mter. So I bought that one. It seems great. It can some times be a bit of a revelation when I ping something with it, and have estimated it before hand. Like in the woods, and in the open, the same distances could look miles different. zini 1,939
Nice one Paul. I bet your game bag almost doubles now that you have a LRF. I can believe the sales of the MTC Rapier going mad buddy as I have also heard how good they are. Ive been told by a person I class as knowing his stuff really well that they are actually better than a LRF around the £400 to £600 mark. Si. Edited June 6, 2012 by zini Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
Be careful! Sometimes the distance is metres different, especially when shooting in woodland, you can get a false return off a branch or leaf which has blown and temporarily returned the beam. Check twice, if the readings are way different check again! Quote Link to post

paulk73 151
Cheers guys. Have the same thing moley So I check twice. I also ping a few different trees when I get into the woods, just as markers so I know where I'm at. And I'm not rushing too much when a squizzer is presenting itself. Quote Link to post
