Irish Digging Ban

Recommended Posts

One other thing - the antis are calling terrier men 'thugs' - please don't live up to this image by getting overly aggressive or threatening any politician either in person, on the phone or email.

I'd personally leave out any talk of 'war' and 'dead bodies' too - if we do enough now it won't come to that ;)

Best banner I saw at the hunting marches in the UK was 'BAN GOLF' - really epitomizes how ridiculous the situation was. Incidentally Coveney is a big rugby fan ;)

I contacted a good few more people yesterday about next thursday and many hadn't a clue it was happening - we really need to get the word out - don't assume people know.

Patterdale666 - I haven't received a reply yet either but you have to understand that today's a huge day for the coalition - if we haven't heard anything by next Tuesday though I'm going to resend the mails and start ringing again.

I'll do the same if I get no reply

The agriculture and food sectors in Ireland account for:

  • 6.6% of GVA at Factor Cost
  • 8.5% of employment.
  • 10% of total exports.
  • A significant proportion (circa 32%) of Net Foreign Earnings from exports.

The Irish Government's commitment to the agri-food sector remains strong. In the Supplementary Estimate for 2009, €1,985 million was provided for agriculture, fisheries and food and public expenditure will amount to over €3.3 billion when the Department's Vote is combined with EU funding of €1.4 billion. The high proportion of expenditure on local raw material and services as well as the dispersed nature and composition of the sector will ensure that the agri-food sector will play an integral part in the recovery of our economic success and the continued viability of rural and coastal areas.
