ferret rescue tonight

Recommended Posts

I had a phone call about 2000hrs from a distraught lady :cray:,saying that her son has two ferrets that he has been neglecting. She asked if I could help her out as the son has not been feeding or watering them, and she couldn't as she was petrified of them :shok: .When I heard that they had no water I just asked where she was,and drove staight over and picked them up.The Poley hob looked in fine fettle, but, the poley jill that is probably pregnant, doesn't look quite so well.I gave them a bowl of milk, and they drank for about 5 minutes :drink: ,I let them have a run around the yard for a while, and then popped them in a hutch with some food, and, left them to settle in.

The hob is a very friendly sort, but, the jill is said to be a biter.I found no evidence of the biting at all, and,I would guess that they have not been handled very often.I think the problem is,that ferrets are so easy to come by that the least responsible people get them :stupid: ,put them in a hutch and just forget about them . I'll post some photo's later.

Well done you!

It’s sad but this time of year I seem to get the odd one hear and there till the season starts again.

Some of my best workers over the years have been rescue ferrets.

I feel that too many people buy the ferrets first and then come on this site and ask what to feed them and so on when I started I read as many books as I could and had plenty of backup off family and friends that kept them already.

I’m all for giving (and asking) advise but not on basic needs of an animal.

I am going to stick my neck out a bit here and say that threads like this are one of the best adverts for culling surplus and useless stock.

The local rescue to me has so many rescues in at the moment from so called animal loving folk, even they are telling people to cull.

So in short, if you have surplus or they are crap workers.........cull em!
