flying a kestral

i am thinking about getting a kestral for my son, i have never flown a kes befor. he realy want one for his first bird i would be doing most of the wieght control etc and showing him a bit at a time. i am new to falconry my self just finishing my first year

any tips or help would be good

Not the ideal choice mate.... :no:

As Millet suggested,.you would be far better served with a Harris Hawk... :victory:

A kestrel is a small bird mate and only the real dedicated or experienced falconer's can fly one without loosing it or killing it..

I myself have had only one full season hunting hawk's but i have had a bit of experience out in the field and other stuff prior to flying my own bird..

And what i have learned is a kestrel is a small bird and i slight mishap in weight control will kill it.. you would be much better sticking to a harris..
