patterdalejoel 669
no point trying to encourage working instinct, its either a good ferret or a shit ferret. i try to handle them and look them over at least once a day, harder in week as im more busy. i reckon its down to how much they are handled when young, the person that bred mine did all the hard work for me, they are as tame as kittens till it comes to rabbits 2 Quote Link to post

Col_c88 41
mine usually get handled 2-3 times a day.. when i put them in the run.. when i put them back in the hutch, during this time I check them over for anything that might be out of the ordinary.. and when i go in on a night to put a rabbit in and they climb all over me.... sometimes i will give them a bit of a play or give them some paste off me hand.. just to keep the handling there but not too often. though i spent a fair few hours with the kits when i got them but that should be a given. theres pipes ropes and rocks in the run so no need to do much else with them really... Tug 168
Mine get a good coat of looking at 3 times a day. Like The One says, I take any leftovers out and skip them out in the morning and give them a check over when they climb over me which usually leaves my work clothes smelling of ferret. I give them a good bit of fuss when I get in from work and give them some paste or a little bit of offal that they chomp down. I have a bit of a play with them again last thing at night when I throw in a rabbit or pigeon once the flies are away. Most days they get about 30 minutes of handling, occasionally if I'm rushed then they get a scratch on the belly and chucked straight back in. Edited May 28, 2012 by Tug Quote Link to post
Carraghs Gem 1,675
My girl comes out every morning to have a mooch around the garden with the dogs, she enjoys exploring the disused rat holes under the shed and under the turf pile, she comes out some evenings when I have time. Lewis Ste 245
i got my first kits a few seasons ago and put alot of time and effort into them by making tunnel mazes and things like that but they always had pipes in their run to play in and out of lewis Quote Link to post
