Wouldn't know, never claimed anything, the only time i tried was when i couldn't work for six months due to illness, then i was shit out of luck, i was ill for three months before i was diagnosed, then i was told i couldnt claim anything until three months after this diagnosis, all this after paying tax and national insurance for 22 years, the system is a joke, those that need it get f**k all...........

my mate turned up to sign on with paint on his hands --they asked him how it got thr he told them he was painting the living room at home -- they signed him off because--- get this--- if he was working on his house he was`nt available for work and the next day someone came round to varify his living room had been freshly painted ..

couple of poles got done had 2 kids said they had seperated had a council house each --both lived in one and rented the other out both claiming full whack in benifits he worked as a cleaner full time got caught out when he tried to claim sick for a bad back ..they`d been in the country 9 months .. paid feck all into the system in stamps or tax ..

I tried signing on a few years back when the building trade went tits up, left it as long as possible tried every avenue for work left it too long really until I was skint, they basically told me to f*ck off as it was the winter and the normal cycle for builders to have no work at that time of the year, luckily I got a start on site then started getting snotty phone calls from benefits office saying I had to go into their office to sign off and fill in more forms, so with great plesure I told them to do one, they still pestered me for a couple of weeks.

One of my acquaintances used to import and deal cocaine, at the end of the month he'd take a big wad of cash (and we're talking £5000+) and put it in the bank personally on payday as he thought no one would notice with his pay going in on the same day... Brains weren't his strong point either.
