redpat1 225
Fished a small still water and kept seeing loads of tiny frogs around. Hooked one up and cast in, barely touched the bottom and had a low double. Collected a few more Kermits and had several decent fish throughout the day, everyone else was struggling on boillies, corn etc Pat 1 Quote Link to post

miroku moocher 140
i'd read about them .as had my son who was with me . he said dad shall we try these elder berries that book you got said ya could use em''' chuck a few in loose i said . i'l stick with maggots for now. he loose fed a few then hooked a couple up cast in and bang ''fish. we had used maggots all day and the fish were biting short and shy biting. soon as we both switched to elders we were catching more fish. if ya find yaself in a swim with a ripe elder berry in it give em ago ''you will catch fish on em. northern lad 2,292
Swan mussels!brilliant bait,we used to remove the foot for hookbait, then smash the rest up,shells included. We did this the day before going then let it ferment ,add brown crumb made perfect carpet feed, this did well for tench too.I beleive swan mussels are becoming rarer due to competition from Zebra mussels,so youd better use zebras! 1 Quote Link to post
bobcullen79 1,495
Year's ago i mixed up some pedigree chum original tin meat with brown crumb, put in the blender, quick blast and your done, i thought it would be great for carp, couldn't stop catching tench, using corn or maggot as hookbait, that was in stanley park that bull. Ahhhh, Good old Stanley park, them was the days, wading across to ducky island... Have they filled it in? Sorry off topic. We used a lot of macdonalds bbq sauce one year on a certain lake, glugging pineapple boilies in it. They definately out fished the ones that didnt get dipped. Quote Link to post
