Fergul 0
Hi, A couple of days ago I bought an air arms s410, sound moderator and scope. Really pleased with it so far but have now decided to spend even more on a bipod. Would a Harris slm 9-13 with notched legs be a good choice( for rabbits mainly)? And do I need to buy separate swivel studs to attach it? Thanks for looking, Andy Quote Link to post
robwelsh 354
If u got the cash go for it, but u can pick Bipods up half the price delivered Quote Link to post
paulk73 151
my mate has a bi pod on his s410 carbine. its a 9-13, but not a harris. the action is smoother than my harris, and it doesnt make as much noise, as mine either. Quote Link to post
lewis850 0
what bipod has your mate got paul ?? Quote Link to post
matt_hooks 188
If you're going to splash the cash, spend a little bit more to get your mitts on a swivel/tilt version. The bipod should make it much easier to attain good levels of accuracy for a novice. As for attachment, if your S410 already has a sling on it then it probably has QD studs already. If so then just whip the front sling connection off, attach the bipod and then re-attach the sling to the bipod. It makes more sense when you've got a bipod in your hand. So yes, well worth the money, should make your 410 into a lethal tool! Quote Link to post
Fergul 0
Thanks for the advice lads, Andy Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
There is a lot of carp spoken about bipods. This notion that one under half the price is just as good. I had followed this advice last year. 1) The foam rubber pads that protect the action from the metal on the bipod sodded in the direction of off! Replaced with foam insulation strips and gaffer tape. 2) The centre pin that holds the QD clamp mechanism together also decided that off was in the direction it wanted to be. Probably to look for its rubber pad mates! 3) One day on pulling the left leg down the spring decided to detach itself and whack me over the damned knuckles. That was it, enough was enough. Bought a Harris a real Harris instead. Lifetime warranty on those, seeing as they are American made this is a big thing, means the quality is there! Build quality is better, it oozes quality! I have used it for many months now, no movement on the rubber pads, no sign of it falling to bits and my knuckles have not been rapped yet. Harris, original and best! Quote Link to post
Fergul 0
Went and bought a Harris slm today, together with some studs. Fitted it and had a few shots. Seems like a quality piece of kit, as does the s410. Went out late evening and had 1shot, 1 rabbit, and although I don't really like killing, it's nice to put a pellet where you want it! robwelsh 354
I don't know how the padding would fall off, as its under constant pressure, unless it was loose to begin with..mines fine, and been used many of times..rarely is off the gun tbh. Only thing that pisses me off is, with it fitted with the sling..it won't fit in bag..but I got a pocket for the pod if ever I take the sling or vise versa Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
Rob, the adhesive that holds the pads in place did not do it's job, the pressure may be constant, but the bipod can sit at slightly different angles due to design (shallow v not flat top). Believe me the pads can and did move. Quote Link to post

Andy Why shoot a rabbit when you dont like killing? why not just stick to the targets? ATB Adam Quote Link to post
Fergul 0
I hunt a gos through the season, but one of my permissions wants his rabbits thinned down now. If I don't do it someone else will. Quote Link to post
paulk73 151
sorry lewis.i have a harris, but will be looking for a smaller lighter, 9-13 inch nikko stirling the same as my mates. it is so light. Quote Link to post
robwelsh 354
Ahh, I get u mole..I thought you ment it came off while it was on..personally though I'd rather spend couple of quid on some other padding and glue lol tight arse I know haha Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
I did Rob, then the centre pin that secures the QD clips at the bottom bogged off, then it decided to rap me on the fingers with a leg spring. Then I decided to get rid. Had enough of the thing by then! My local was selling Harris fixed head bipods off at a cheap price (genuine Harrris) the difference in build quality is incredible!
