fredthefrog 169
Just one of those things, look at the literary world, i pick up Didreksons books and can't put them down, i find them informative, they grasp my imagination, they make me laugh and i can imagine all his stories playing out in my mind, i also love Darcys books, great writing and quality photography, same with Dooleys book and Phils books. Yet i also have a few Frain books on my shelf, i find his writing style sends me to sleep and i find his "drawings" cringeworthy. I also have a book by Bezzant and i find some of the comments laughable, i wouldn't use it to wedge up a table leg, but thats just my opinion, it means feck all to anyone except me, ones man meat and all that............. True, i have them all, some are a good read, a few are terrible and his books as a kid got me interested, i guess i only wised up to the line between fiction and fact in his books when i matured(ish)............ freelance 448
On the subject of plummers books, to be honest as a young sixteen year old lad back in the day. I loved them and probably back then believed they were true, i wanted to believe Billy Robbins had animals in packing crates up his garden and tom and slade could only sleep to the whir pf the battery charger but as simo said the more you get into it, get decent dogs and start doing a real bit and get older and meet some genuine older hands in the game. You realize it was all a fairy tale, but it did get at lot of us young greenhorns back then into the game. As did the old terrier and lurcher talkabout in shooting news Atb 4 Quote Link to post

Phil Lloyd 10,738
what about others that knew plummer was a con and said nothing and only basked in the glory of being in his books no names mentioned like but its funny how they didnt come to the fore all them years ago to say plummer was really fiction writer lol..... Back in the day,..there was no chance of having your say 'in print',..there was no Internet forums, and no chance of righting wrongs,...Them as were in fashion, had total control, of how things went down, and it took some time to get a voice, and by then, it was far too late,..the dye had been cast... But,..hopefully today, we have freedom of speech and can express our feelings and opinions... All the best, CHALKWARREN... Quote Link to post
