Probuk 93
Hello Chap's..just a question for you lad's . Iv been vermin controling for about 30 year's now. I started with dog's and an air rifle when i was quite young..and foolish. I even got into falconary at the age of about 24 till i was about 28 but a split in a relationship ended that short and i never got back into it. On a few occasions i have thought of getting back into it but i know the commitment you lads have to put into these bird's Anyway enough of all that...How many of you have bird's that go moleing.?? Yep "moleing".!! This is the million doller question. A strange question but i have a good reason for asking....as i trap moles using traps but i thought if i can get a bird that catchs moles my job could be made a whole lot easyer...as in no probing or digging and laying trap's I get alot of shooting permission through moleing. Oh I forgot to mension the lad called Phil thats going around my permissions with a hunting bird claiming it hunts up moles...and can clean up a field in just a few visits I dont supose he a member on here maybe.?? I want to see this mole hunting bird Dont get me wrong here im well awere that if a bird see's a mole on top of the ground that its likley to kill it but im sure they dont go cleaning up fields in a few days  But got to give it to him he gave me and a few land owners the tickels over the last few days   Marty Quote Link to post

jasper65 6
Not for the faint hearted catching moles. certainly wouldn't advice flying anything smaller than a Goldie or large female Redtail at them. moles are more than capable of dragging hawks down their hole's and devouring them . Flying Harrishawks at them? my money is on the mole everytime .... Quote Link to post
Malt 379
Don't some types of owl hunt moles? Quote Link to post
paulus 26
Don't some types of owl hunt moles? only the ones with oxygen tanks on can follow them underground moles can survive in an inviorement containing only 6% oxygen as they have double the carnt remeber if its red or white blood cells of other mamals/ a tawny or barn owl is more than capable of taking a mole worming on top 1 Quote Link to post
CityHunter.uK 12
Would love to know how he entered his birds on them I tried feeding mine some that I trapped and they didnt seem to recognise them as food and so wouldnt touch them Personally I think your looking at a miner bird to get at the moles thats where they get their name from isnt it? 1 Quote Link to post
