A Visit to Sandwell Field Sports (YouTube Clip).

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone.

Here is an episode where I travel down, 2 times to visit a friend and expert spring rifle tuner, Tony Wall and his team at Sandwell Field Sports (SFS) in West Bromwich.

This episode is dedicated to Tony and his team at SFS in recognition for many many years of first class services to the shooting, hunting, fishing and field sports community.

This clip does not do Tony and his team the justice that they so rightly deserve, but it is hoped it will help to give you the viewer an insight into the good work that they do.

I personally cannot recommend SFS enough.

Please if you are in the neighbourhood or after a new rifle please pop into SFS and have a friendly chat with Tony and his team or give Tony a call, who knows they might even just have what you are looking for.

Si.

Cheers Stevo buddy.

Just seen the spelling error "shots guns" never mind, that's what happens when you edit at midnight LOL.

Yeah as I've always said Tony is the man when it comes to tuning springers.

I asked him about if he tunes pcps and he said he can but he doesn't as they have enough work with springers and there are plenty of specialist pcp tuners in the country.

They do a sfs tuned and moded co2 rifle that they call the sfs Hobby. Tony says in the summer months when co2s arnt effectsd so much by cold temps this small rifle is a massive seller and game keepers buy them as you get 25 full power shots per cartridge. Very accurate and fit on the dash board of a 4 x 4.

VerminhuntersTV will be reviewing one very soon.

Just to put my pennies worth in , as I like to , I saw this yesterday. I walked into SFS and there was no one about , but I could hear someone on the range . I honestly thought it was someone with a pcp until I saw Simon and Tony walk through , Simon with the video camera ( obviously filming his new toy ) and Tony with the rifle . We had a bit of a chin wag ,and a chat about the tune that Tony has done , and its a cracking job I've got to say , after all how many springer's can you cock with your little finger ? It fires very smoothly , with very little kick , and like I say its a match for some pcp's when it comes to noise level .Tony as usual , is a great host and his knowledge is second to none , its worth a trip there just for a chat . Looking forward to a full review of it once you've done Si . Atb Buster

Cheers Craig,

Yes as soon as time permits (VerminHuntersTV channel is full on at the moment)and its had another tin of pellets through it so i know its totally settled down in its own firing action i will do a review of it buddy.

If yesterdays results are anything to go by its going to be one hell of a accurate and smooth springer.

next time i go shooting im going to try cock my straight-out-of-the-box hw97kt with my little finger.. dont think its going to happen tho!! (its a lot smoother than my mates old hw35,but i bet nowhere near as smooth as Si's 97 in the vid)

might get mine tuned one day.. 75 quid seems a fair price, looks like them guys really know there stuff and take a lot of pride in their work, and after-service as well. #Dedicated

also that wooden thumbhole stock does look great.. if i bought one would i be able to just take the action straight out of my synthetic stock and slip it straight into a wooden one??

i went off wooden guns lol but now im having second thoughts again hahaha!

was going about 1 inch to left so about 10 clicks to the right and bang on

tony has done a cracking job on this gun :toast:

at this distance i would say its on par with my JBd R1O

Brilliant news pal, but to be honest after seeing Tony work on your rifle when I was there the first week I new it was going to be very special.

Cant comment about the Combro as I use a F1 so don't have that problem buddy sorry.

I have since using mine a lot and practising loads over the past few days found AA Field Plus at 18 grain deadly in the HW97KT.

I have now shot a rook witnessed by LJ and 3 poorly rabbits, with 1 at a range I would be proud of with my .177 HW100 S. One of the rabbits, the furthest was witnessed by Malc Barnard and filmed on his camera. I had to take the shot as the rabbit was badly suffering and was about to hop down its hole in the bank near it so I didn't want to try and close the distance just in case it hopped down and suffered a longer painful death. The conditions were right and the laser read out was accurate at 53 metres so with a calibrated scope, practice and rifle as accurate as the SFS tuned .22 HW97KT the shot was pretty much a cert and the rabbit just rolled over without even a kick.

The rifle as also killed around 15 to 20 rats instantaneously at ranges from 3 metres to around 28 metres.

Awesome rifle.

Si.
