What bait were you using Donk? Im going down in the morning, apparently they're in, can't wait!! I love eating them.

 

Have you done much mackrel fishing mate? I only ever use feathers, but some lads catch them singly on the float or with the spinner.

Used mackerel to catch mackerel before Malt my knowledge of fishing isn't much but i'll give a feather a try next time. Blanked this morning and it was fecking freezing an all

Aye small mackerel strips on the float are meant to be good. Never done much with the float myself, keep meaning to have a bash. Got a nice little rod I bought the wife (she's used it once! ) that would be good for battling a single mackerel. Can't beat reeling in a full house on feathers on a spinning rod and landing them all though IMO, always seem to loose one or two just as I'm landing them!

The shop bought traces typically have 5 or 6 feathers on them and the weight all depends on what casting weight your rod is.

If on a boat put 2 sets of feathers on that's 10 hooks if on the shore put one set on easier to get cast mate I was using a 5 ounce lead on a 12 ft beach caster but you will have to alter the weight depending on road weight and line strength anyway alb donk

I used to use my beach caster for spinning Donk. After one long session one day I thought f**k that and went out and bought a 10ft spinning rod!

Yes that's the one the one on the left as your looking from the top down used to fish it alot when I was working in texeco oil refinery if I couldn't be arsed to drive home or had a late call out mackerell used to do the trick atb donk
