one of the last great britons that sadly were on every street and comunity in the country and made this nation what it once was now look at the people calling themselves british

God bless old Fred, sort of ironic that he found employment destroying the remnants of an industrial past that he was a product of.

if you got time then watch both these short videos and prepare to be amazed!!!!!! what a man, no fear at all

Can someone let me know when all the 'old characters' have actually gone?

Like I have said Dibnah was great but I'm really not into the whole 'all the old characters are dying out' thing...Fact is everyone is getting older everyday (obviously), there is always going to be these eccentric old fellas about.

There is an interesting bit in Samuel Pepys diary about a big crime epidemic and youth hanging around the streets etc.....Something very similar along those lines.....That was in the 1660's, Sound familiar now?

John humphreys Can go on and on name some young ones who will replace these

How can I when they would still be 'young ones'? hence not 'old characters'.

It is just a huge case of rose tinted glasses. Do you not think they were saying the same shit a 100 years ago? There will always be one more old character.... Is there going to be a definitive day when they have all gone? No, as there will always be someone else coming through the 'old character' ranks.

Really don't mean to sound picky, its just these never ending clichés of 'old characters'... 'Kids have no respect these days'...etc really get on my nerves. This kinda crap has been passed around for for hundreds of years!

Let me know the date when they are gone.

Suppose it's more likely that in a generation there are a certain number of characters which stick in the mind, a few faces which stand out from the crowd and as you get older they start to dwindle in number. There will always be characters about, it's just you don't know about the future old characters who will come after.
