Schmidt Bender 8x56 or 6x42?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have a .243 caliber gun, and I want to buy a riflescope for it. What do you think, which one should I choose?

A Schmidt Bender 8x56 this one costs only £465 or a Schmidt Bender 6x42 this one costs only £426, and the shipping is free.

The third choice would be an AKAH 10-40x56, but Schmidt Bender is a better brand.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Have a schmidt 8x56 on a 22-250 and I've shoot foxes to 300 yards with it. Fantastic glass, you wont go wrong with either. Depends what your shootin really. For deer id imagine the 6x42 would do the job. Personally if I had it all to do again id buy another 8x56. Atb Mark

It would depend what type of shooting you want to do?

A lot of low light /moonlight shooting I would have the 8x56 up against any other scope for light transmission, they are known in germany as "sauen glas" (pig/boar glasses).

If its a lot of walking up/stalking in daylight hours or with the lamp then I would go for the lighter and probably cheaper 6 x 42 ( I do prefer to have an adjustable scope for this type of thing tbf)

Hope this helps a bit,
