Ideation 8,216
Fair play to the fella and i hope he finds the dog. There are an awful lot of scum bags that steal dogs. And there are almost as many who buy dogs in that they have a clue are stolen. And i'm sure i will get a lot of shit for saying it, but so many of the folk involved are from a 'nomadic' background Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
I shit myself for a minute there. Thats the spit of my new bitch. Mine has got black on tip of tail though and not that much white on feet... you want to hope no ones been handy with the boot and shoe polish then Haha. Brilliant. On a serious note what would you lads do if a lad came knocking 12 months down the line with proof that the dog you had brought in was his and had been stolen 12 months previous? After you had bonded with this dog for a year? I'm afraid as tight as it may be, that dog would now be mine. Looking at it from the other side, if someone stole my dog and sold it and then I found it, I would wanna take my dog back. I think that's a horrible situation to be in either way. Quote Link to post
BrianSteven72 369
i think after i had the dog a year i would be very reluctant to give it up i would defo think of it as mine , but if the shoe was on the other foot and my dog was stolen and i found it after a year i would be having it back with out a dought no matter what the circumstances where ! At the end of the day, you have to be able to hold your head up high, and you got to treat others as you would like to be treated. It's difficult though, if you had the dog as a young un and had put in all the work and time, it's be hard to give it up, even harder so if the lad was a divi. But if it's an adult dog, it should be simple, it's their dog, you just bought it. Quote Link to post

IMO you'd be bang out of order for trying to keep it, the bloke will have gone through the nightmare of having a dog nicked, finally finds it and then someone tries to hang on to it....not good at all. Being a bit disappointed because you've had to give up a dog you've bonded with because it was stolen is nothing like the anguish of finding out some shithouse has nicked your dog and you've no idea where it is or if you'll get it back! And if the bloke does have proof that it's his and it was stolen, and he gets the fuzz involved the choice wouldn't be yours anyway! Hope the bloke gets his dog back, and the scum that nicked it gets a hiding! Quote Link to post

Stray dogs picked up are checked for microchips - if they are not wearing a collar with up to date identification or microchip how are they to find who owns them? Surely it is up to some one who's dog has gone missing to actively search for it, preferably before the 14 days, after which they are are shifted on to rescues or euthanized? Quote Link to post
