springer. 59 yards grouping..

Recommended Posts

aye davy your bang on.. and i dont listen to him most of the time haha... i shot a rabbit in the end of its nose back when i first started going shooting (about 10 years ago), when i got there it was rolling around into the floor asif it was trying to shake the pellet out or something :icon_eek: wasnt a pretty sight and thats when i decided i really needed more practice, and to be able to get them straight into the brain, instant clean killing.... i dont like to see suffering..

shame to see a rabbit with a broken leg running around in pain. good shot :) + hope you had a nice stew or summat ;)

sounds like a lot of holdover that, its been 3 years since i had a .22 tho! maybe im used to my .177 now lol

anyway like i said 40y.. maybe 45y is furthest id go.. and thats if i 'had to' like if i couldnt get any closer..

Awesome shooting there Skot!   Well done mate

Nothing wrong with a group this tight at such a range as this!   Well shot Skot! Good to see fellow spring rifle shooters showing the PCP lads a thing or two about spring rifle accuracy!   ATB

This is my grouping at 32yds after refurbing the TX200.... Ignore the flyer, that was me being over eager!!   I've also done a video of a 5 shot group on YouTube if you search for Marksm4n   Wi

Will have to try a longer range one, judging by the way it performed at the weekend I think it will do quite well

Not bad at all Skot but I reckon you could tighten this raggy bunch up without too much effort. Have you tried H&N Field Target Trophy? They are brilliant in a Weihrauch barrel.

There's a vid that Si/zini did on my permission a couple of years back called "Precision Air Rifle Shooting" . It's on his Youtube channel. It shows Si, along with Andy FR1968 and myself each shooting a one penny piece off a rock at exactly 50 metres range, in turn. Me, followed by Andy and Si.

My rifle was my beloved .22 HW77 and my pellet is H&N FTT washed and lubed with WD40. Andy was shooting his superb Diana 52 sidelever (.177 if I remember.). Si was using a .22 BSA R10 he had at the time shooting RWS Superfields also washed and lubed with WD40.

Its a bit of fun we had one lovely summer's Sunday, and if anyone knows how to load it from Youtube to here, I'm sure Si won't mind.

Well shot Skot!

Thanks Davy. Appreciate it buddy.

That was quite a day shooting some mental distance targets like 80-metre pellet tin lids, 60-metre spent shotgun cartridges on sticks and bottle tops that Si didn't film. He was going full-on with his R10 and we kept the pace with "Those unbearably heavy spring rifles that are not as accurate as a PCP" (Wanna bet?) :victory:

When we started knocking down cartridges end-on and ring-pulls off tins, he came up with shooting a 50-metre distant penny off a rock the size of a rabbit's head as a zeroing measure for the evening's rabbit hunt and got the camera out.

A bunny shoot ended a fabulous day of blistering marksmanship, shared skills and knowledge; and good friendship I will never forget.

It's what makes shooting everything to me. There is no other outdoor activity better than this. And that's why I envy those of you who are attending the October meet. I know what you'll be getting up to.
