shaunpauls7 131
If you have any mepps I would give them a try ? Great for perch and could also attract a few pike with them. But you won't go far wrong with worms on perch. Love perch fishing there is a few big ones in our local systems. Good luck........ Quote Link to post

JRTMAD2k10 11
well mate went up there... as i was getting close to the lake all i herd was blasting music which is very unusual.. so as we came onto the bank where we usually go it was taking up with about 10 teenagers drinking which never happens at this lake... but not to worry we went to the far side of the lake where i have never been before thought i would try it out but anyways put my worm on and had a few cast til i got where i wanted left it for a bit and as my mate was having a munch i was focusing on the float ha i said is that bites and my float didnt sink or anything it just got pulled across a bit i was really unsure then i picked up the rod and felt a really light fish but it go of at the last second.. so out i cast again at the same spot which was really only a few feet wasn't even that deep but before that cast i changed my hook to a smaller one as i didn't even relies i had a size 6 on!!!! so changed it to a we 10 and cast back out and waitied 5min and my float was going again thought i seen a perch in the water so was getting really excited lifted my rod and felt a wee fighter on but its been that long since i caught a perch i couldn't remember what they fight like if they did much at all.... so i reeled in a bit more and seen a wee pike jump at me i couldnt believe it it must of been just under a foot but really skinny was perectly hooked for me right at the lip so took the hook out at placed back in the water (made sure i was taking care of it as some people dont do round here) and held it lightly in my hand give it a wee rock and away it went hopefully for me to catch in a few years !! well end of the day i really enjoyed it was an unexpected catch that made my day 1 Quote Link to post

chrismdd 787
Next time for the perch try this: Use your normal float set-up to suspend a lobworm mid-water and then groundbait with maggots to attract the smaller silverfish. These will quickly attract any large perch in the area who will then snaffle the lobworm as an easy meal. Learnt this trick to my disadvantage when a few mates from the coat came up to fish the rivers. One mate was a out-and-out beach fisherman and so fine tackle was for him so we set him up out of the way with this method and within 2 hours he had caught four perch over two pounds each! Lesson learned. Good luck for next time. Edited May 23, 2012 by chrismdd 1 Quote Link to post
