The longer the course the better the dog, why??(Ireland)

i think the older breeds of dogs wer better because if they got on a hare they would keep him in the 1 field if you got a good 1 he wud put 15 to 20 good turns in a hare and at was all action, now as good man says its all about minutes not turns and i think its because its ireland trying to copy england, haveing that said there is some good breeding around today and yes the saluki breed is a very good breed but i think its all about getting the right mix of a dog with speed that can hold a hare in 1 field and getting him to stay on. just my opinon

lads have seen a few long runs in ire but i would find it hard to belive 6 mins is capable in this country far to many get aways here

it all depends wat part of ire you hunt in louth and carlow you can get some very long runs you need speed and HARTH

fair enough i dont but ived seen top dogs and never seen a 6 min hunt over here on big ground if they did i didnt see the last 2r3 mins of the hunt it was over the hill and far away

thats well said but its the ground were talking about its near imposible to see the whole hunt a lot of fellas say its a big hunt but dont see what happens when the dogs go outta sight.atb.

saw some great runs in ireland over the years.the hares are a lot stronger now an on the big land u can see great runs.i had great days out with bolio,owen,p.k,jm,ph, an many other lads we had plenty of 3;4 min runs.atb
