The longer the course the better the dog, why??(Ireland)

Recommended Posts

Only rabbit these days but when i used to course hares,I went to see the chase,So little point the dog running for minutes if i couldnt see it any way.I wasnt ment to be there so why would i want a dog that would still be running in 3 4 minutes The further the dog went from me the more chance of getting spotted.Later in life i ended up living in the big country though and i must admit the hares would break fast dogs hearts,When the dog was done instead of staying running they would stop and amble in front of dog.But small medium fields and a fast dog thats what i would want.

here we go lads .. cretin stone cold is our old friend markbrick .markbrick we all know what a lying dirty toerag he is .the same markbrick that sends people persistant pms threatening theyre kids and

how many have a stop watch on the job? 6 mins is probebly more like 3 /4 in reality

Seen plenty dogs last few seasons with 5\8 saluki or 3\4 doing stuff in ire regulary ill name a few huck for start this. Why I used him fantastic dog on any ground alfy 3\4 saluki done them for 3 seas

mate without the good saluki crosses all the diolons would still run bedie crosses colie crosses deerhound crosses thinking they were hare dogs the saluk has made ahigher percentage of hare catchers than any other type of lurcher wether fast slow etc without them you would have just the run of the mill lurcher and the odd good hare killer , end of mate saw several lurchers as kids on good hare land biggish feilds were i got brought up but only saw 2 or 3 that could stop hares rest chased them flat out and got blown away mate a good chase localy canmbe three feilds or 2 on a strong winter buck 2 to 3 mins takes a good dog to stop them in some areas were i grew up saluk gives you a higher percentage of hare catchers

There is no doubt the saluki has transformed the coursing world, you'd need to be a fool to argue otherwise. But I'm not a numbers man, I'd rather see 3 good chases with 1 kill than 5/5 mundane courses on the fens. A little saluki will bring something to the table as long as it's counter balanced by a lot of speed. An 1/8 is more than enough

i like a qaurter roughly in my dogs or third as im out alot more and do alot more ,near greyhound or whippet is fine but they dont take the knocks the same or feet on arable dry land as i says beforew ithout the good coursing fen dogs wouldnt have the saluks up here , if you breed of good dogs and speed them up with dfaster types it works i liie pace but only if it has good feet wind and runnig brain mate as speed doenst always catch game when going rough and wet

yes the Lurcher world certainly moved up a gear with the introduction, of Saluki blood, all I need in my dog, is there good feet,

Light Muscle mass, and the extra wind power, and the elasticity, of the turning power,(((( but I would rather watch a good fast course, up and at em and lift them,

my last two dogs have 1/8 in them and that is plenty for me, I also like nothing better than the hare getting away at the end of a course

In the passed 20 years, i have heard a few tales of saluki saturated dogs coming over from the uk to here in Ireland, big money being payed, only for them to find out, they could hardly catch a thing!!

If their is any saluki saturated dogs out their lads, or even, pure salukis, catching regular with evidence, i would love to see it, here in Ireland.
