400ade 0
sounds very much like a bad earth.
bigdaz 688
Bad earth mate, most likely places are the seven pin socket on your car, the seven pin plug that goes into it or water corrosion in the lights on the trailer tent. Plug someones trailer/caravan into your car that you know is ok if it works fine that's you ruled the car out, open the seven pin plug and lights up and clean any dodgy looking connection up and check the printed circuit in the light units for rust/corrosion.

iamduvern 62
Deffo a bad earth its often easier in the long run to rewire from lamps to plug and "tin" the ends of the cable it may take a bit of time but its worthwhile in the long run and while your at it check the socket on the car

Can i just hang one over the back and plug it into the car and drive away or would i legally have to remove the old unused lights first?
bigdaz 688
You could do that if all else fails, I'd have a go at rectifying the problem, keeps it tidier. But you could use a trailer board just make sure you secure it on tight enough and you don't lose it half way down the road wherever your going.
