secretagentmole 1,701
I cannot find anything about an SMK XS368! I know very little about the SMK range, save for the B2 is carp and needs a lot of work. The 78 is an interesting little gas rifle, the 19 is accurate, but suffers from an awful trigger, really benefits from a tune up, see Woodfield Gun Care Products! I would recommend the Hatsan 55 or 60, being lower cost, German barreled, lovely walnut stocks... But the top range of SMK springers are worth investigating, before looking at what is in the secondhand section at the same money! Quote Link to post
tommyb464 0
Sorry its the xs38 underlever Quote Link to post
paulk73 151
Nice budget springer is a hw 99 s. Brilliant little rifle IMO. You wouldn't go far wrong with one of these pal. For a shade over £200 brand new. If you could find one second hand, you'd be on to a real winner. Quote Link to post
paulk73 151
Saying that, I know a lad that has a BSA supersport for sale. With 2 scopes. One is an ags. Don't know what the other is. It needs a bit of attention. The bolt that holds the stock to the action has snapped, so needs drilling out. He said he would take a reasonable offer for it. He's in Preston Lancs if this helps mate. You could end up wi a real bargain pal. Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
Forget the Supersport, liable to be a Spanish one! The fix will cost as much as the gun so not such a cheap deal after all (and if you decide to DIY it and bog it up, you have a very expensive pile of spare parts! Get something secondhand that is decent (like not a BSA) or go for a new cheaper gun. From what I have read about the XS38 it is large, heavy and requires tuning otherwise it is noisy with an agricultural trigger, so similar to the XS19 then! Once again with a reasonable amount of money ploughed into it you will have a good gun. Thing is for the amount of money you have to plough in you could get an HW95 (if new that will probably require tuning too, HW quality seems to be not what it once was). However if you hunted round the second hand market you could probably come up with an older HW95 that does not require tuning. But if you ware willing to do the tune up a bit at a tinme, so upgrade trigger, then piston, then spring, top hat etc, you will have an ongoing saga! But you will wind up spending more than the gun cost on the bits! Quote Link to post
Bradford Lad 74
Mole will guide him to..wait for it....THE HATSAN 60 lol Just bought my little brother one of these for his first rifle, had a few goes of it and i cant really fault it for the price, £122 with Hawke 3-9x40 scope!! Full power and well made/finnished. The local gunsmith told me they are the exact same rifle as a webley stingray, and that of all the break barrels he fixes he's never had a hatasn returned!
