sowhat 1,572
i have a beddy whippet and she is just as fast as a pure whippet i had her at raby castle last year an she done the dash thing in 5.1 secs and only done it a coupe of times and the fastest that day was 4.94secs and that was a grew plus you tend to get tougher skin than a pure whippet so not as many cuts mine is 3/4 whip 1/4 beddy 20tts and i only use mine for lamping 2 or 3 times a week she catches just as many as my friends lurchers that are between 24 and 27 inches great little dogs No, you may be very proud of your dog, and I admire you for that, but I'd bring any Whippet I know, and race your dog and beat it !! Your dog's obviously a good dog for you, but please don't say she is as fast as a Whippet, or else we would have Beddy X racing instead of Whippet Racing ! Cheers. mmmmmmm, I love a challange Rich our Milly did 9.40 from out of the traps yesterday, over a distance of 160 yards, and she's only 10 months old, not bad for a beddy x Quote Link to post

LOL ! Of course, there are some VERY fast Lurchers around, but can they beat these speed machine Non-peds ? I don't think so ! That young dog, Tight Feet, is doing 8.30, uphill, at Westerhope, and I hear there's a couple of dogs up north breaking 8 seconds for the 150 !! Cheers. Quote Link to post

Cheers Gaz It's not midlands but the track at Ellesmere port let the lurchers on once a month...first Sunday of every month, that's not a million miles from you. It's organised by the afghan hounds club, google it. Someone off here told me about it, email amandavenables@virginmedia.com for more info Quote Link to post

The point I was trying to make Rich, was for a 10 month old pup to do 8. or in my case 9.40 over 160 yrds shows at this stage its going to be very quick, go down to your local track and get some times of non-peds under 12 months. I do alot of timing in at my local club, Maltby wrc aswell as being the lureman, and very few non-peds start off by doing times like our Milly. You mentioned Tight Feet being very quick, I agree with you, but I wouldn't expect it not to be, I own the sire to him (jack the lad) lol, but you can't make a comparison against a 46lb adult dog to a 32lb 10 months old beginner. We knew she was quick on seeing her catch her first rabbit, and it made me curious for weeks how quick she really was, resulting in us taking her to Maltby.(also an uphill track ) Well done Callum for your dog doing 5.01 in the dash, you must have been very proud of it doing such a quick time.
