Malt there is nothing on this green planet I want more than to see England get humped. You can call that small minded, pathetic, whatever. It's called rivalry and any real football fan will know what

C'mon Ireland !!

didnt keane quit an irish squad once??? in japan i think :hmm:

Yes, he left the training camp on the Island of Saipan before they ever got to Japan/South Korea.

We done well in that WC, whether we would have done better with him, or done as good to spite him is anyones guess.

Far as i remember Mcarthy sent Keane home he didnt walk out,yes he could probably of made an apology or something but he dont come across to me as the type to say sorry when he dont think he,s wrong and it had probably gone too far anyway.

I cant see what he has said thats wrong......what lies has he told ? what has he said that isnt perfectly true ?........Its a sad day when a man can be crucified for telling the truth......maybe its what some teams need these days rather than all the excuse making.....maybe its what some fans need these days rather than all the dopey " we,ll support you ever more " mentality.....yes supporting your team is great but celebrating playing shit and losing  ......its become trendy to sing when your losing, all these silly fat b*****ds with their shirts off in the rain singing their hearts out when their teams 3 nil down......i completely agree with Keanes mindset he,s an extremely competetive man and doesnt see any glory in losing and playing badly.....No that side doesnt have great players but that doesnt excuse the basic errors any group of professional footballers shouldnt be making i cant understand how anyone could disagree with him.

No one is making excuses. The manager admits he's made mistakes. The players admit they've played poorly. The fans know that, but there's little point traveling across Europe to sit in a stadium depressed.

People disagree with him having a go at the fans, they don't play on the pitch. People know we don't have good players and our used to be good players are over the hill, no amount of mentality change will change that before the Italy game tomorrow. People disagree with him and his confrontational attitude waiting for one of the players to have a go back at him, what's the point in that?

If Roy was all that he'd be a successful manager, he's not, he was a dismal failure. If we were to take Roys managerial skills and put them onto Ireland we likely wouldn't have qualified at all.

So the fact he didnt make a great manager means his opinion and experience of football holds no value ?....... some prick like Mark Lawrenson gets to say whatever he likes because he never failed at management and Keane did !..................if Roy was all that what ?......he,s been a pundit and a manager, personally i dont think he,s particularly good at either.......but i do think he has a fantastic no thrills honest outlook to the game which is refreshing to hear in this day of puppets on a string interviewing of players and managers alike...............every player when interviewed talks the same boring safety first non offensive shit robot fashion i think its great that Keane says what most people are too scared to say......

As for travelling across Europe to be depressed, thats what competetive sport is all about, losing is no fun if you want fun and entertainment go to the cinema or go watch a stand up comedy act if you want a good laugh........i dont know what there is to have fun and laugh about if you are dedicated enough to travel across Europe to support your side only to see them timidly roll over and make the most basic of errors id be pissed off to the back teeth the last thing id want is to have a sing song and jolly up...................thats half the trouble in todays times real true football supporters are being over run by silly prats who think the " one of the lads "......" drink beer and sing " mentality is what supporting your team is all about.......people like that disgusting fat c**t James Corden thinking its funny and the " British way " to throw beer around and sing and have a good laugh at the football......what must Italians,Germans or other succesful footballing nations think of us when they see that !!

As a player Roy Keane was a competetive athlete of the highest order......maybe management or punditry is not his thing......but his attitude to the game is bang on in my opinion.

Roy keane is bang out of order with his comments. Anyone who thinks if the Irish fans were depressed instead of happy at the end of the game, would have made the slightest bit of difference, needs locked up for their own safety. Ireland didn't stand a chance, everyone knew that, so did the fans. They paid a lot of following Ireland and are entitled to express themselves as they see fit. Anyone who supports a small nation or club knows they are on a hiding to nothing. You just need to sit back and enjoy the ride. To compare them to Germany etc is crazy. No amount of depression will have them competing with them. I was at Celtic v Aberdeen game, although Aberdeen is one of the furthest traveling support to Celtic, they bring the largest support. They also provide the best atmosphere sing we hate rangers more than you etc while 5-0 down. They scored a consolation goal in the

last minutes. Out came the chant, we are going to beat you 6-5. Does this make them any less supporters than the fans who leave early cos they have seen enough etc?

Ian Wright has a great outlook to the game thats right.....also Stan Collymore talks a lot of sense i remember after the World Cup in South Africa when he got into trouble over that James Corden character he said exactly what myself and a few pals had been saying for ages......Nobody is saying fans of small clubs expect to win anything but lack of effort and ridiculously poor mistakes is unacceptable......We are critisized at West Ham for turning on our own players....its not turning on them its simply not settling for shit effort and performance we can all accept being beaten by a better side or basic human mistakes but theres no excuse for a lack of the basics that made them professional sportsmen.....................all this we,re gonna win 6-5 when your 5 nil down is cringeworthy self humiliation its not funny......having competed in sport and knowing 1 or 2 sports folk i know for fact most competetive sportsmen would rather be booed for a bad performance than be cheered in a " we,re shit and we know we are " mentality as its the ultimate humiliation......I remember the season before last when we were relegated our crowd started singing " thats why we,re going down " at one game....that night Lineker on Match of the Day made a point of saying words to the effect of " they,re funny that West Ham lot "....it wasnt supposed to be funny it was being sung with venom at the players not a piss takey lets have a laugh way......

If the likes of Scotland or Ireland want to have a giggle and take the piss out of themself and their teams then crack on.......as an England fan i dont want that, when Wayne Rooney walked off the pitch saying to the cameras " our own fans booing us "......yes thats absolutely right and completely appropriate when you show the lack of effort they did that night ........................that needed to be booed not celebrated !!.................I,ll be blindly loyal to my club and country year in year out....that doesnt mean im going to settle for shit and cheerfully laugh and take the piss out of myself and the club im spending good money following.

Whats classed as shit though mate.......not winning? What if you played well but the breaks didnt go for you, do you still boo and taunt players? I remember when Larsson came back to Parkhead with Barcelona and scored against us... :cray: He didnt celebrate and he was just doing what all great strikers do...score!!! There was a man further along the stadium that day and the abuse that he stood up and shotued at Larsson was unreal....thank f**k he wasn't sitting beside me cause i dont like to see Celtic fans fighting amongst each other... I do hope somebody gave the c**t a slap though...

The point i'm making is boo'ing players wont help....no way....They wont suddenly say " There boo'ing i better get my act together"...there more likely to but there head down and play worse, especially youngsters!! I'd never boo any player at my own club, Yes i've screamed at them what a f*****g twat they are but boo or sing in bringing them down.....never....

So gnash, you say professional sportsman prefer getting boo'd than fans singing we are going to win 6-5 as it's humiliating. Well surely that will spur them on next time than booing? Kind of shot your own argument down in flames with that one. Funny how when you guys do it, it's for the greater good. What you need to realize gnash, you have your opinion on how you enjoy what your doing and the world has theirs. Their is no wrong or right, you do as you see fit. Ireland like to enjoy themselves even if they get beat. England like to be miserable b*****ds and create havoc when they get beat. One thing is certain, both will get beat, how you deal with it is down to you. But for someone to take the moral highground over another smacks of arrogance.

Like i said we can all accept being beaten by a better team or basic human errors all players make mistakes....................but lack of effort should never be tolerated i dont care what level your competing at but ESPECIALLY at " professional " level......and so yes that most definately should be booed......................likewise if a player cannot do the basic things that made him a professional footballer in the first place that should not be lightly brushed aside either......

Ive been close to Paolo DiCanio at West Ham games in the past as he,s always been a fan since playing for the club......the atrocities you hear him shout at players for not pulling their weight is unreal......but he has an exceptionally competetive nature and cannot accept certain things from players and i think thats totally appropriate......people always moan about how pro footballers are mollycoddled yet seem to want to jump to their defence if they get booed !

And no of course a youngster cant be treated the same...as a club with a great reputation for bringing through talented youngsters i think its fair to say our fans in general have enough knowledge of the game to be able to differentiate between " an off day " and " lack of desire "....ones acceptable ones not

As regards DiCanio etc.....i honestly think these nations like Germany Italy have a different mentality to sport than we do.....and maybe thats what makes them winners and us losers !

You're right Keane does look bored stupid by it all at times. never thought I would see him sharing a studio with Patrick Viera .

Nice to see Keane managed to get somthing right by tipping Portugal to win, he was spot on compared to the other two pundits .

Baw why do you always turn any conversation we have into a personal duel  you say " kind of shot your own argument down in flames with that one ".........then you start coming out with" you have to realise gnash "..........and " you have your opinion "........and" your not right all the time "..............if you dont want a conversation dont have one !.......or is this the closest you get to " being competetive "......Baw i dont natter with folk on here to " win " i like to listen to folks views ( even yours ) if i agree thats great if i dont i might give my own view it doesnt mean its anything competetive that you need to defend like im attacking  .....................

Anyway,i fail to see how humiliating yourself and your team could possibly spur them on.....and as regards Ireland like i said do what they like....but personally i think to have a pop at Roy Keane because he is more competetive than your average Irishman....is wrong.

Being utterly dissapointed, pointing fingers, looking for answers to where we went wrong when you have been defeated rather than having a beer and a singsong is perfectly natural..... if you see that as arrogance and taking the moral highground.......then to me your too easily beaten..................what is it we all admire in working dogs....stickability,determination,never say die,the ability to not just roll over and say " i cant do it " ........................same theory different species.
