Can't see it mate, sorry! well we did draw with them mate!!! I'll put it another way.. England drew with France 1-1 Ukraine beat Sweden 2-0 no goals conceded France beat Ukraine 2-0 England beat Sweden 3-2 Therefore France > Than Ukraine, a team which didn't concede any goals against a Sweden team who put 2 past England.. I think that makes sense, sort of! Look, England got a good result against France, but IMO that doesn't mean they are as good a team as them. They set up and got a result which was the aim for the first group match. Tonight they set up to dominate Sweden and only just managed it. I'll repeat what I've said already in this thread, I'd like to see England to well, but I can't see it happening from tonight's performance. At some point in the future, England are going to have to go out and get goals if they want to progress. If they played against France like they did tonight, they would have got beaten IMO. I'm taking nothing away from tonight's result, but they are not going to beat any decent teams unless they dramatically improve their ball retention and start to move it about a bit quicker. billybaltic 308
They will have to up there game and score goal's and they will, or they come home, but they have done what was needed up to now.
gnasher16 30,025
must admit hearing the fans sing it now sounds amazing and at 4-0 down aswell!!!! full respect to ireland you gave it your best shot in a real tough group I listened to Roy Keane on about what a load of ol bollocks the Irish " party attitude " is.......he said its embarrassing and time Ireland started taking the game more seriously if they want to compete in these tournaments and not try to be everyones favorite " second team "................must admit i never really liked his attitude as a player but he talks a lot of sense even when it might offended his own kind.....fair play to him he,s right in this case.

You say that Malt but we,ve proved tonight we can score goals......only 2 sides in the whole tournament so far has scored more than 3 goals in a game and we,ve scored the most in our group,we also have taken more strikers in our squad than any other country......also lets have it right, our best player hasnt played a game yet.........how would the Germans or Dutch be getting on without their best player......im not saying we can beat the likes of them but we,re winging it at the moment and thats what counts......Chelsea won the Champions league this year they were nowehere near the best team in the competition but they stuck together and got through the rounds.......personally i admire any athlete or team who can overcome superior talent with basic core qualities like sticking together and toughing it out.......we all love an underdog and the better football team dont always win the cup competitions the way the best team wins the league over the course of a season.....Look what Chelsea just achieved in a cup competition with hardly any " ball retention ". I knew somebody would pick me up on the 'score more goals' part! What I should have said was something like, 'go up the pitch in the search of goals against the better teams in the knockout stages, because playing for a draw isn't really an option.' I was commenting on the basis of lurcher1's 'England have as much chance as France because we drew with them' comment.
