a lad i know is hoping to get a platts bred deerhound cross and was asking my opinion. to be honest ive never seen one so i was wondering if they are any good as workers and also what lines his deerhounds originate from. many thanks for any information

You will get varying opinions based on peoples own experiences of probably 1 or two dogs. I have one that I am happy with so far (nearly 1 year old). But I very much doubt that any of his stuff is any better or worse than any of the other prolific deer hound cross breeders.

 

All prolific breeders will state that they work their dogs but how you define work is probably the question, if you own 10-15 dogs how much work can they possibly be doing

Yes and hancock is on another level altogether but... does hancock not tell people that his dogs are not worked

I paid 250 or mine but it wasnt directly from him.

how many deerhounds would dp have i heard he uses or has been using the same greyhound for some time

 

if he changed or has changed this stud do u think the quality would change

Not sure about him using greyhounds but I havnt been to his kennels. My dogs sire is Raven who is 5-6 generation dh/gh back to a grey owned by someone else who had used raven as stud. At the time I got mine there were lots of pups around by raven but he was 14 years old, I thought all the bitches he kept were also dh/gh and several generations in but its best if someone thats seen his set up comments..
