Rabbithunter 456
another episode from the GH novel. we were out with FLICK and my non-minshaw. I had the pleasure of driving the van, and noticed the fuel guage very much on red. Well, i mentioned this to the GH and he said "its okay Ry, it'll do us for the night" well, going up a few hills, the van starts spluttering..... "ey mate, were running low here" GH - "its okay Ry, im "pally" with a farmer up the road" "oh right, have you got permission off him" GH "no, i got a bit of scrap(metal) off him last month Ry" well having no other option, the van "conked" to a halt, and would you believe right outside the farm! well, a couple of doorknocks later and a pissed off farmer at the door "ello pal, i got some scrap off you the other week, and me vans just run out of diesel, any chance of helping us out?" Well after a bit of bartering, we exchanged a £5-00 note for a jerry can full of the her majesty's finest stinky diesel. as Andy will testify, every night out with GH is a comical one, and now & then, events like this WILL occur.... he should carry a health warning 1 Quote Link to post

dazzz 421
well i seen CHESTER running at around 11-12 years of age... on fell ground on the A66... he was running with FLICK, and one of my non-minshaw blooded dogs. It was the first time i had been out with the G.H and even at the age CHESTER was, he made a mockery of my dog. He'd fly down the beam and scoop rabbits up better than dogs half his age. I have it on word that CHESTER was one of the best dogs this small town had seen.... and would of loved to see him running in his prime! 16 hares solo, 10 roe solo. He also possessed one of the old "minshaw" traits... One evening GH had been out with chester & flick. and had about 7 hares in the front of the van. As he was pulling up at home, he noticed a car parked up, he said to me "i thought the neighbours had bought a new car" This wasnt to be, as a particular P.C with a GRUDGE came out the car and greeted the GH... GH "clicking" what was happening he took his dogs and put them in the run.. The PC said he was going to seize his van, suspicion of poaching, and he will also be seizing the dogs well, the GH said to the PC well go on then, go and get them! The PC duly went to the dog run to be greeted by chester, showing his pearly whites, growling like a rabid dog.. "go on officer, help yourself" ........ the officer backed down and said ok on this occasion i wont seize the dogs apparently later that morning, around 4am.... a recovery wagon came & towed away the van, orange lights flashing, the full works......... what must the neighbours have thought GH told me that story the day we picked pups up from chesters litter Quote Link to post

fatman 2 23
interesting read on another forum? :hmm: Back to minshaws jack, andy was coming here as well which he knows hes welcome anytime and andy and is knowledge and time to a breed of dog is 100%,but your right its the hanger oners i just cant be doing with the lies and the advertising of a certain strain of dog that doesnt exist now and if it did mr barker had the closest to it and they are the worse strain of lurcher ive seen in this country,I just wish andy would rename them to dale dogs or moore dogs as then we could move on some of the comments about you can see the old blue or rambo in a pup now its been bred out outcrossed that many bloody times its unreal mate,But a bit of info that is missed out jack by andy is the original blue was not bred by victor as claimed it was bred by a lad called longman from fletchertown nr wigton using a dog from lowes of westward nr caldbeck there was alsorts in blue.the first i remember pulling up was a mates dog wich was a double bred blue to a saluki greyhound she was hit or miss, one night she whould kill 30 rabbits another night she whould get 2 and refuse to run so no collie blood there.i know a lot of pups were bred off that line of minshaws.my mate shot his,so i think the problem goes quite a way back my mates bitch was around 1992/3 « Last Edit:Today at 8:04am bymarkbrick1 » Quote Link to post
