Ideation 8,216
Thankyou very much andy, the first bitch, was the one i had seen before, what a lovely stamp of dog. Are there any photos of any of the other dogs (inc that black n white) as adults? Just wondering if they had dons stamp, or were racier / thicker set? And were there any pups that were thrown very much to the collie? That litter is very nice mate, i especially like Scrappy doo, and the bitch that is being held? Adonis certainly throws decent pups, well at least well put together, and from what i have heard, they are starting well? Do you think his pups such as reggie / chief. will better him? I.E do you think he throws better than himself or do you think he is 'special' if that makes sense? Quote Link to post
minshaw man 111
Well, let's hope you get a bit of luck with the mutts this year mate..because i bet you couldn't wait to see the back of the past year or so when it comes to dogs? Fingers crossed you get summat useful to go to war with come September ..and Minshaw Man this is old Kelsey at 14 years plus...typical woman, the once fine figure she once had long since gone  ..thats what old age does for you ...ATB Andy. nice pic mate Quote Link to post
FUJI 17,327
I've always been of the opinion Jai that he will throw a better pup than himself? After all he is over 1/2 Collie with the remainder lurcher,in theory you would think almost ANY lurcher put back to him would have more to offer than he? I know that won't be the case EVERYTIME but it's just common sense isn't it? I hoped that he could serve a purpose in the field and IMO he does that,I always stated that he would make a useful baseline for breeding lurchers, pure sighthounds,1/2 x's or 3/4 breds or just lurcher x lurchers he may just throw better than average when it comes to a lamping, mooching, ferreting dog etc: time will tell if he is going to be "special" but if I had to have a guess now I'd say watch this space haha..ATB Andy 1 Quote Link to post

You could do the same breeding again, and end up with a collie. if that makes sense? Percentages are not the be all and end all. I mean on paper a 5/8 collie shouldnt be able to get near some of the stuff that Adonis does. I know what you are saying in that physically when put to any runner, the pups should have more to offer than himself, but im not so sure, well, not for ANY runner, as like we have said before, speed isnt that important, as long as the dog is 'fast enough', and how fast, fast enough, is, depends on land / quarry etc. You could mate him to a nice racy bitch, and the pups lack strike, wind etc, and that would be much more of a detriment, and not worth, the bonus of giving you racier animals. But then i guess that is all academic, cos i know that you would not use, just 'any' dog. So i think you are right in saying that, if you can combine him, with a racier bitch, that has a complementry skill set, the litter may just hold one or two beasts, that far exceed the capabilitys of either dam or sire. I guess in a few years we will know if you have both a truly top class worker, and a truly top class producer (or should i say another). 1 Quote Link to post

Happy times ahead me thinks. 2 Quote Link to post
