I wasn't ever going to comment on this thread ever , I wasn't prepared to say anything about the breed or the men although I've seen a few run and know a lot of the men mentioned including victor gh

I did manage to find a single photograph all be it not a great one. Can't really remember the night but the blue bitch in the picture belonged to my old mate from Workington.   The Handsome guy in

Xena has just turned 2. Been brilliant so far and showing some real potential to make a real cracker. When i picked her up i didn't look at her being a minshaw, but what her parents were...chester(sire) and lilly. I knew both were real good dogs and that made my mind up to have her and never looked back since. Just hoping to get some real hard work in front of her this coming season, give her some real tests. roll on the winter!!!!

So far she has taken everything, except what bites back. but i'm gonna be patient on that.

I put this up, so the thread stays as a minshaw thread. Andy, again thanks for putting pics up of Xena's fore-family.

I'm glad your happy with Xena mate..what stamp of bitch has she made now that she has matured? I'd assume being out of those two she won't be short of pace? I think with how she's bred she would of been a canny dog a few year back before the ban came into effect? She would be perfect for those long ears lol..here's owld Chester here..brilliant dog he was. ATB Andy.

Have any of the minshaw bred dogs done well in the southern counties of England? I mean amassed the same sort of bags on hare and rabbit?

It's nice to see some well worked dogs which are obviously bred for the job.

Andy...this is what she lives for. Some dogs retrieve because they know they have to, but some thrive on bringing it in, head up, tail up there to please ya. Her pace is good, maybe not the fastest on earth. But ya right, i've been told she'd be good on them big rabbits...wink, wink.

Great to see that derbylad,I like to see them like that! Both Chester and Lilly were both excellent retrievers so there was always a good chance Xena would follow suit? She's a really nice type,I think you'll be having some great fun over the coming years together. Sirius I know there will be dogs down that way from these types but myself personally I couldn't comment on wether they've cut any mustard down there to tell you the truth? ATB Andy

Not the best of photos, but here is Bron, daughter of Don, taken today on a mouch about. Who knows what the future holds, but she can run, jump, use her nose, nothing scares her and she mostly comes back when called. . . . . so i'd say the future is bright, but we shall see over the next few winters. She will definatly get the chance to prove herself.

I think you have lived the dream mate, but the thing i think many forget is that you did it, it didn't just happen to you, you went out and got stuck in good and proper, that's a big part of why you have had a number of very good dogs, aye the breeding played a big part, but many folk could have had the same dogs and never found out what they were capable of.

As for young Bron, she is coming on leaps and bounds, nothing phases her, she is up and over it, through it or after it, she faces cover well, marks and uses her nose and has showed she has some drive already. She also has a lovely nature, and is good in the house and about the place. Her only downside is she won't leave the whippet a lone for 2 seconds when i'm out, always hanging off his throat. She is a very quick little thing as well, and a 'watcher' which i think is important. She learns very quick indeed.

Who knows if she will do all that is asked, time will tell, but i'd say at the very least, she'll murder the bunnys

Now if you and yours could just breed another like her, i'd take your arm off :thumbs:
