dytkos 17,804
Surely the lads have shown the positive results of the "breed" over several generations. They have bred to their own requirements and there are now some pups on the ground. The ones that will be the best will be the ones worked by the true "dogmen". Don't think they'll all be "legends" although they may all have the potential Cheers, D. 1 Quote Link to post
Guest Moscow
I MUST NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT RUNNING DOGS THEN IF YOU START OFF A LINE BY CROSSING BULL OR COLLIE WITH A GREYHOUND THATS FAIR ENOUGH YOUR BLENDING QUALITIES LIKE STAMINA AND GOOD FEET FROM THE COLLIE OR BULL THAT THE GREYHOUND LACKS, WITH SHEER PACE WHICH THE GREYHOUND HAS BUT THE COLLIE OR BULL LACKS. BUT IF A LURCHER ALLREADY HAS GOOD STAMINA PACE FEET ETC WHY TAKE A STEP BACKWARDS BY ADDING MORE COLLIE OR BULL TO THE MIX AT THE RISK OF LOSING SPEED? WOULD YOU ADD PURE BULL OR PURE COLLIE TO YOUR LURCHERS AND EXPECT THE PUPS TO BE AS FAST OR AS GOOD AS THE PARENTS? Maybe there taking a "STEP BACKWARDS" so they can move forwards the way they want to in the future? it is not rocket science! Even an idiot could tell you the pups are not going to be as fast Your asking questions a novice can answer 4 Quote Link to post
FUJI 17,327
Good craic lads,I've enjoyed reading the last few pages..as for lurcher x collie well the two I've owned have been ok .. if they had been no good they would of been away to f**k..I personally think they have plenty to offer when it comes to breeding? Moscow's dogs are bred down from my Bulpa dog via his sons Jack,Moscow and Cora his grandaughter,he added Bull blood to suit him,Tomo went the other way to a coursing bitch and he seems happy enough..I went down the route more or less where I had once been back to a Collie and again I ain't dissapointed with the end result...NO they ain't all world beaters but nevertheless there is certainly slot worse out there IMO?
