frankel 2,123
Out last night with IanB cracking a few rabbit's out of a horse paddock for a farmer with the rimmy..i decided to give Lil a go at retrieving bunnies as she has been a pain with them..1st one she pissed about with flinging it in the air and running round the field.. 2nd 3rd where retrieved to foot and by the the 4th 5th it was to hand as i think carrying a pile of bunnies took the daftness out of her..happy with her is a understatment..she is also jumping double barb for fun now with good clearence..and by the way i am not being big headed i am just showing how versatile and quick learning this line of dog is.. chuffed for ya mate. So pleased for you and lil... 1 Quote Link to post
scotty2306 37
sherlock that tex dog you arerefering to will only have a small bit of collie blood and certainly cant be classed as a minshaw, tex was born in the north east and came to cumbria as a 8week old, a lass on a farm owned him then he was sold to a local lad, who sold him to bushers pal in leigh tex was out of the black/white bitch molly, his sire was a 2nd gen half coss out of pinkys laddie and a 1/2 cross bitch, the bitch is allegidly out of flynn the litter bro to punch. tex's sire was GN "tex", he was half bull 1/4grey 1/4whippet, tex's dam, "molly" was out of ditchys blue bitch, and she wasnt half minshaw, she was very greyhoundy. am i right in think minshaws blue had a brother called "duke" owned by RJ junior, well from what i can gather "duke" went over a greyhound to produce a dog, this i believe went over another grey to produce minnie(ditchys blue bitch), if thats right minnie is only 1/4 minshaw, making molly 1/8 minshaw making tex 1/16minshaw, this is what im led to believe as i own a litter sister to tex(sire of yours) and i owned the litter sister to the molly bitch, im sure if im wrong some one will put me right, but tex certainly cant be called "tex minshaw" lol i can tell u now duke never lined a greyhound so i think thats incorrect :toast: :toast: Quote Link to post

bunnys 1,228
millet how many colie crosses you had over the years , For what it is worth and i don't realy know why i am replying as it is a irrelevant question to this cracking topic..but i have had a beddie/grey x collie grey and a saluki grey x colie grey deerhound grey..and them two also retrieved perfect after a little bit of longer training..say 3 or 4mth longer..so there you go you ultimate hunting man.. .. i have had two and this is my 3rd.. . Edited too add so i don't miss anything out i have also had and still own one 2 x saluki bull grey's neither of them would or will retrieve for me..i might of done something wrong with that type of cross but i seem to be doing ok upto now with collie in them..so stick that in your fooking haggis pie filled pipe and smoke it.. firstly millet may i say she seems to be coming on a treat .but has we know half bred and more collie retrieving jumping and biddableness his usually there strong traits etc, what i would say take the advice of Chalky because one can soon beget faults that to some can be a pain in the back side , personelly i would also reel her in on a jumping also good luck on ya journey with her . at times it pays to not shout from the roof tops of a young sapling can come back and bite in the ass. atb bunnys. 1 Quote Link to post
