I wasn't ever going to comment on this thread ever , I wasn't prepared to say anything about the breed or the men although I've seen a few run and know a lot of the men mentioned including victor gh

I did manage to find a single photograph all be it not a great one. Can't really remember the night but the blue bitch in the picture belonged to my old mate from Workington.   The Handsome guy in

smart animals them freelance. i like the beddy x, i prefer the stronger types than the little weedy ones. the bitch in the top pic looks like the kind i would go for.

the one i had would give everything, she didnt quite have that top gear. at the time she was running with Jack & Chester so it was pretty hard competing with them.

So when's don going over swift :whistling:

Make some fine hounds that.

It's Swift's birthday today :boogy: ... and if Frankel doesn't watch them there will be pups in about 9 weeks time :whistling: ..the darn thing is in season :censored: ..ATB Andy. ;)

don is actually looking pretty well and is full of beans. where as swift is casting a bit but other than that and being in season she is feeling great in herself. both are kicking sods 10 feet high and are coursing about like 6 month old pups..

i have been having some fun on one of my farms letting the terriers & lurchers hunt and bolt the rabbits a few rabbits. i am only doing it for the terrier pup its bringing her on loads and it seems to be working. and it keeps the lurchers ticking over.

She a nice shape that black and White bitch

She is quite a nice looking thing Baz,good lamper, brilliant on big stuff too, retrieves like a spaniel, had a couple of 2/2 in the day but just up here in fields..got an invite to try her out down South..not sure if she'll cut the mustard as after all she's just a lamp dog basically although her dam is coursing bred,i'll definately give her a go but ain't expecting anything out of the ordinary at best..she seems to have good lung power but by feck she'll need it  ..ATB Andy.

Sorry for going slightly off topic, but with Andy and Hedz both mentioning beddy crosses and differing opinions . Here is two saplings of two good friends of mine, now these dogs are from a 30 year old line of vulpine dogs from south wales predominantly beddy bull greyhound breeding with a few other crosses years ago in the mixture. Both these pups are sired by a well known dog down there called Ernie, a pure foxing machine. These line of dogs are bred for hunting open hill/moorland for daytime vulpine control are bred for nose gameness and general toughness. Both pups hunt like hounds and seem natural retrievers and jumpers, i have seen the dog pup come on from 8 weeks old as he is my lamping partners ( unusually he has thrown smooth and about 26 as were normally the strain is all rough with good jackets and not quite as tall ). The bitch is 23 tall and only joined my other mate a short while ago, but both saplings are ticking the right boxes and hopefully will do the business come next season. Here,s a pic of the bitch and then the dog. Cheers Atb

My comment was more aimed at dog's purely of bedlington/running dog mix ie greyhound or whippet that line there has bull and other thing's in the mix so it could be pretty hard to say it was the beddy that made them as good as they are mate

Has she got enough of your old dogs qualities for you to carry on the gene?

ye she has. plenty more to give this season, i dont think we have seen the best of her yet.

she is very stylish running rabbits etc..and she is stone mad on the bigger game. just a lamp dog for us but she has taken plenty day time gear... truth is she doesnt like the pearly whites ive tried her a few times and seems to come worse off so not going to try her again.
