MINSHAW .....

Can you just make this out? The Bulpa dog fecking hated Cattle if they set about him,the Don dog is much the same?...bombproof with livestock but they don't like to be harassed by Cattle? :hmm: ...

Been following this interesting thread since around the 220 mark, lol. Not much to add but I'm curious about this behaviour. Is it specific to Collie blood (Bulpa and Don were both lurcher to full collie right?) or do many lurchers of different breeding show it? Reason I ask is my bitch (dam was a half x collie grey) is exactly the same. Steady to stock but fecking hates anything harassing her especially beast! She really gets stressed out when they mob us. She's the only lurcher I have ever known to be like it. One eye on the job and the other on near by beast! It's a pain in the arse but certainly makes me feel more comfortable on the rare ocassion the big feckers start giving me aggro.

no of a wheaton hound the exact same wont bother them if they dont bother us,but if there them nosey thick c**ts that just run up to you swarming you he will clear them fairly quickly never bite one just pushes them away.

The other half of my bitch is wheaton grey (sire), lol. Sounds like a chose a proper cattle hater in this ones breeding!

Don still has a pull on the leash at lorries!!! He will chase fecking trains too if I don't check him...where I walk the dogs the railway is well fenced off so most of the time I just let him run after them lol,he chases them for about half a mile then runs all the way back and if a train comes the opposite way he's off like feck again haha...backward or what? Oh and he try's to catch fireworks and jumps in the air trying to catch lightening!! Other than that he's ok lol ..ATB Andy

My bitch will try get fireworks or lightning but not lorries or trains lol shows how wired he is lol this temperament really helps in the field. Probably why he is so versatile on lamp. Can't beat a do or try type with the brain to help them succeed. Shame there's not alot more out there like that

f**k me Chalkie that made me laugh about "if they are armed" haha...BUT you are right! Mine will nab them no worries and like you say it usually sends the "loonies" to the far end of the field where they may or may not regroup before contemplating another "stampede" lol...ATB Andy

Aye,horses i don't like the feckers at ALL,Tomo don't seem fussed about ten of them charging around a field in the black dark? Ilike to avoid them if at all possible?..i can recall way back :icon_redface: myself and my mate Chud were out lamping near Penrith on some ground known to the dog fraternity as the Colonel's,it always held a few bunnies and as we were putting a few in the bag we reached this field that held a dozen or so sets of rubies..i said feck em there's a horse in the field..Chud said give me the lamp and battery and i'll jump in with the dog :whistling: ..i waited on the otherside of the hedge :D ..anyways Chud is in the field with Bulpa and i could see the dog getting a few spins, some caught some missed all the while this f*****g great mule was tearing around the field :whistling: ...a minute or two later and i could hear the tell tale sound of dog breathing heavily and my mate slopping through the muddy ground approaching the fence  ..the dog popped over and Chud said i got 6 :toast: ..just as he was throwing the bunnies over he let a feck off shout out like a bairn  ..i said whats up..he said that f*****g horse has bit me on my back  ..that was my insight to horses so i keep clear of them if i can  ..my mates back looked as though he'd been beaten with a baseball bat by a handful of big lads  ...bunnies,horses,lurchers and me...not a chance :tongue2: ...ATB Andy. ;)
