Come on Whin fellah leave it out now, your NOT the only person who runs crop land big or small or what ever with hedges or without,

Do you honestly think its only you and your line that runs this type of land and quarry with success? Like you say stubble time its easyer too knock up a score of double figure's long ears driving the land and what ever else is knocking about, And ya of course its harder as the land changes too plough then seed but thats the same daytime ect its part of the hunting season, Enjoy your hunting and let others do the same without being judgemental with the same old shit you come out with... And dont think iam cnuting you off here cause i honestly anit its just what i can read on hear and the way YOU come across i know you do abit but dont think you and your tykes are the only one's.......

:whistling: I remember a 'noted' author once dismissing my claim, that 'My Lurcher, paid the Mortgage' :D

The poor fool then went off, into a private world of algebraic equations and totally illogical conclusions.

These mostly revolved around, how many, suitable nights a lamping man would need to be out in,.and how many rabbits a dog would have to kill, in so many minutes, etc, etc...Truth was,.his clever sums left my head spinning,...and he almost convinced me, that I had been imagining, all those dark nights out...

The facts of the matter were,..(and he conveniently forgot my original statement),...that I certainly did live of my lurchers,..and,.. I never mentioned chasing poxy rabbits

yeh i can remember plumer doing an article in the mag years ago on that subject,

I remember the article was aimed at claims of making a living from lamping rabbits, without help from 'the state' (dole money).

Great thread guys- love em or hate em-these minshaws certainly seem to bag some stuff.

Before you laugh mate, just think of the stamina a husky could bring?

I asked andy about outcrossing to husky & he gave me his opinions. A friend of mine, is also intrested in this X and he is a good dogman, as Andy would testify ;)

But aren't Minshaws renowned for their stamina any way ? Why add something that MAY give a bit more stamina, but would almost certainly detract the speed ?

Cheers.

evening folks siberian huskys of the raing types that are raced in this country mushing dreys are way faster than any collie dog and way more stamina and strength , if stamina his neede inany type it will be got from these types this has already been proved to be the case in other lines . atb bunnys.

youve not caut my drift if you hunt large open areas the land is away more testing than dyked feilds little sheep feilds with good fencing , thats were im geting at as i know there areas in this land with simliar terrain as ive been there , as have others , ye you go were the game is etc ,were i am is no diffrent better suited for game as the land was built round shooting and on the principle of hunting game so good land, as i says many times its not easy or if it was then be no fun , and were i stay near edinburgh were i got brought up is miles from dumfreishire were you got nabbed andy ,youle not beat good winter wheat feilds rape coming through for sheer sport sorts the dogs out , matey thats for sure ,any way its about your collie lurchers mate and your stories all the best

Of course things are more difficult to catch on arable type land and even more so with no fences or hedges thats common knowledge surely,i don't recall anyone sayine anything to the opposite?..but surely driving this type of land as you do in the main and "mugging" game isn't much different to lamping your average fields on foot is it? I've NEVER drove fields in that way for hares except for a couple of fields high on the tops with Tomo after a few bunnies in the Dales but i have heard of folk driving the larger fields and keeping up with the chase so to speak?...nothing wrong with that either imo,if you just want good sport as you seem to want Whin why not just walk and lamp ALL the time and give your quarry the upper hand? I run stuff to catch it not to just chase it..end of for me  ..as for making good £££ off lurchers and their catches, well i know of folk who's lurchers sent them off around the world, not me mind you :icon_redface: ..jet setting off to South Africa and such exotic places ain't that right ....? :whistling: ..oh and it's not about my dogs Whin  ..i'm just chipping in fella like plenty of others  ..ATB Andy. ;)
