I wasn't ever going to comment on this thread ever , I wasn't prepared to say anything about the breed or the men although I've seen a few run and know a lot of the men mentioned including victor gh

I did manage to find a single photograph all be it not a great one. Can't really remember the night but the blue bitch in the picture belonged to my old mate from Workington.   The Handsome guy in

I think with these "driven" types it'll be all about the entering that determines what type you end up with.

Yeah,i totally agree Johnny with that comment  ..Bron's sire Don to me atleast seemed ready and raring to go at 5 1/2 month old as daft as that may sound? I knew he had phenomenal "go" in him back then and it was all about channelling his enthusiasm and just wanting to get on with things into his work as and when i "let him loose" :hmm: ..i just sat back on my haunches so to speak and watched on..he was out daily just doing what pups do,ratching around, chasing the odd bit of gear and so on but i was confident that when i entered him to the game full time so to speak he would be not just physically mature but mentally too? I know my friend in Ireland who went to great lengths to get the dam of Don & Co always said the farmer who owned her told him that the family she was from would not be fully matured and settled into their job fully until they were 19 month old?..so i'm sure whatever Bron & Co do early doors it'll be fully next season when they really come to the fore? Don was a different dog in the latter half of last season to early on imo,his sire Jack i didn't start away until he was 14 month as he just wasn't ready and even Swift too,she was very immature physicallly and mentally at 12 month old, infact i dare say she wouldn't be worth a toss now if i'd set her away at that age?..you guys know your dogs better than anyone and ain't newbies to the game so i'm sure everything will work out just grand with them? ATB Andy. :victory:

Jamie said the same the other day to me And about the maturity thing and thats the thing I've found with a lot of colie x's they look and act ready for the challenge but they're not, slow and steady will always bring the best out of this type imo. :victory:

Andy, Moscow was an early starter for a dog of his size anyway. He had done plenty of rabbits and hares single by the time he was 11/12 month and caught his 1st roe single as he was turning 1 I remember it well, it was a long slip by the time I got him out the jeep and over the wall. He rocketed upto to it turned it and brought it back twisting and turning within 20 yards and pulled it nice and cleanly right in front of me. To say I was happy was an understatement.
