Giro 2,648
Its Cornish rabbits that flatten a few minshaws... when did you last hunt large numbers over a period of time in Cornwall giro? With a minshaw? Or was that just somthing you herd? I see a minshaw bitch run by a landy as a pup 3 night on the trot an was ready for a 4th at the time an this dog only started stalking when it was walked to rabbits which probly ment it was waiting for the land rover to come up beforeit ran them imo I just read and heard reports... Marks lilly cocked and barkers dogs where bottomed out after a few runs Never been fella, never seen dogs run along side a moter its a alien game to me.... Think Mark Bricks Wispa got sicken on the cornish coney??? You would know better with going down there fella, what do you know on the subject of Minshaws that ran below average at the Bricks?? ALLRIGHT mate why do you keep referring to minshaws ,when you no the fellas that went down with them were below average themselfs, just simply did not put work into them, try look at them in the right hands, then make a judgement mate I can only judge the facts it get presented with Jack... We are at page 254 and Hedgy ask a question from a statement I made on page four I know what a good dog can do in the right hands I would put that cornish rabbit statement in a different light..... Anyone going to Cornwall running rabbits with Mr Brick has to a have a very fit dog before it even looks at a rabbit it has to cover some distance, if I rightly remember he went lamping one night with Hedgy and they covered 20 odd miles, dogs just trotting at the side of the jeep.. For some of these dogs the drive alone would finish them... I dont know if my dogs could step up to the challenge, If I was to intertain such a thought I would be trotting my dog with a bike attemping to get up to 15 miles 3/4 times week under its belt .. I would have no fear run for run my dogs could hold there own but there basic fitness levels and endurance would be no where near at the moment... I run my dogs in a more traditional manner il run mine anyway i can get out to run them,,f**k ,il even chuck em out the car window, lol. they have to be run as their youngsters and wont give me any peice unless there knackard anyway, the minshaw that i did see run 3 nights on a couple of ocasions. i saw her conpleat 3 night beside the landy without hardly breaking a pant, those nights amounted to over 100 miles of dogs out beside the landy,in rotation, now this bitch did more than her fair share of running and killing around 100 rabbits between them over this time aswell as the miles trotting along at around 15/20mph for probly 15miles , now the dog may have had a stalking habbit which was unsatisfactory to its owner but it was not a jacker and the game she put away sergests to me that she had no probem with wind what so ever,(any old posts of her early days put up by her owner testifi to the dog haveing exceptional stamina,,she was also a handy little dog at retrieveing other types, as for the other 2 you state, do you know as jim says were the dogs in good fit running condition or had they been hauld out of a kennal on a friday night and asked to suddenly go to work?,food for thought, I agree fella, Some lads pitch up at his with unfit and untested dogs... Did you take your half cross Minshaw down to Marks?? If so how did it fair ?? So Wispa finished her career stalking ?? I thought she had turned off rabbits ?? If I am wrong I stnd corrected Like I say, you will know the truth fella, you have been down his and took some big bags.. Do you know anything about this depressive trait ?? Picking and choosing on nights ?? Yeah Jack belive he done well in other areas, Got beat at Northumbria. On that score I think he got a bum deal the travel would of took its toil on the dog, I was never his best pal but even had a wager backing him to win. He got beat on the night, I was surprized. Long runners Bruce beat his but it was not record breaking numbers considering the time of year conditions etc... A dog only has to catch on the land you personally chooose to run on JMO.. I aint arsed if my dogs cant run big open whin land, why ??? Because I dont need to travel that far for a good night out. This traveling the lengh of the country is ok for some it dose not intise me.. When you chuck work and family commitments into the mix. Now this is better than talking about Greyhounds and alsations  Steve; the night LDR beat MB, there wasn't a big bag, because MB walked off, jacked, whatever you want to call it, halfway thru' the match ! His dog, Kat didn't jack...HE DID ! Tomo was there and he could verify what happened. Cheers. Yeah remember that now, he called time before the end... He never liked the walking, They recon him and Darcy are doing a book... "Bricking it, a lampers tale" endorsed by Land Rover.. First chapter deadicated to the minshaw crew... " From Bags to Riches" describes his early show days, jumping and chasing lures.. This may well be Darcys best book yet Its a joke by the way  4 Quote Link to post
Ginny Spinner 455
Andy, Sox doesnt seem to have any better confirmation than any of the other dogs bred out of Jack even though its dam is a greyhound? From what I can gather that litter seemed to lack a bit of wind and be injury prone aswell? This is not a dig at anyone so dont get paranoid Max I'd agree with you there Joe. Sox hasnt got a quater as much wind as Ginny and a few others i've seen. But i have never had her half as fit as the others. Sox isnt really injury prone infact shes never been injured just few skin tears as a youngster jumping barb wire.... She jumped higher after this haha! She'll get every chance this season and if she's honest enough and does what i ask she'll be ok. Her mother was 'apparently' a2 at sunderland which tbh isnt a big track at all!! I Quote Link to post
BLACKWATER... 157
driving stubbles or any land with dogs sure puts more game in the bags localy but can shorten a dogs working career, but keeps them super fit and in best of knick but as i says shortens there career unless you have a few dogs to rest etc ,been driving feilds since late eighties early ninties , thats why we changed to saluk crosses and not colie types not got the same runnng wind at times for feild after feild after hares etc,,diffrent running gaite etc ,youle not get a better way to keep your dog fit but no good for dogs without wind etc saw plenty jack or just not fit for that type of running ,great crack if you can drive farm to farm , until its sown and back to the old walking etc ,only down side you can mop up early doors on easy game, clean them out, as they say , all depends what you want good sport or easy running ,with big bags before the ban, there was dealers who took roe hares so driving early doors in the season was good, Quote Link to post

From what I can gather that litter seemed to lack a bit of wind and be injury prone aswell? To be honest Joe,first cross 1/2 Grey's wouldn't be my choice of ANY type even with a Minshaw ..if you get a half Grey second or third generation that doesn't seem as bad when it comes to wind, injuries etc:..i know at some stage you or someone has to do it ..i've done it in the past with Bulpa and a Grey and i'll be honest my brother had one and my brother in law the other and they both had good endurance in them for how they were bred?..my Grey could of been better than the dam to Sox or then again Bulpa was maybe just better than Jack? What i will say even the little bitch my brother in law had called Blaze out of Bulpa x Grey had some wind, one night we took her and the dog called Lad who was the sire to Flick,Flame,Polly etc and if the lord strikes me down now there was only one dog running at the end of the night and that was the Blaze bitch ..ATB Andy Quote Link to post
dytkos 17,802
well jack, marks dog kat did very well up on mine in the dales,, she beat tara, by a few rabbits.. so shes a god dog in that respect,, i think the dog would catch rabbits anywhere. as for what giro mentioned,, 20 mile by a landrover and catching 40 + rabbits is some feat,, credit to him and the dog if its true................??? i have done plenty running by the truck,, out on big open land in lincs,,,where you can cover that kind of distance,,,, and up the dales where i tended to cover 7-8 mile max........now i run single handed,,, and tended to swap the two dogs over,,,, up the dales had 40's,,, out on the flats around 20+ mark with a few other bits. 20 mile single handed,, and a 40+ rabbits..............................????? not saying its impossible cos i aint done it,,,,, but mark is prone to exageration....................if its true,,then fair play True mate, many, many tines. Cheers, D. Edited June 23, 2012 by dytkos Quote Link to post
FUJI 17,327
Not really wanting to go down the yellow Brick road lol but I was kind of wondering why Mark has to take 3,4,5 and even 6 dogsfor rabbits? Why not take two and then two the next night and so on? That way the dogs are getting to spend some time in their beds, recharge their batteries and keep enthusiastic at the same time instead of the same monotonous ritual of being out every night chasing bunnies and in the process having to run 20 mile plus beside the Landrover? Seems a strange way of going about things to me atleast? Dytkos what kind of numbers would one dog be catching on his better nights if you took let's say 4 dogs? ATB Andy 1 Quote Link to post

I the nights i have seen her run have been above average. and thats an unfit sox not fully tuned. possibly plenty improvement there? 1 thing for sure is she is will give 110% every day/night and will run until she drops.she isn't the most stylish running dog but she is good to watch with the somersaults and lunging strikes.. will she have the wind power for you dean??? well i don't know but we will find out, i do think she will be well above average though. and what i seen of your reggie last season i really think he is the next best thing. i would own him no bother. he will be a great dog in the future and possibly outshine don..... i said possibly dad so chill!!!! haha got a long way yet though as don will be twice the dog he was last season i guarentee that!!
