redcharge 378
Andy did many of the Minshaw dogs struggle with their feet? noticed one or two of the dogs in the pictures were not blessed with the tightest of toes and I can imagine there to be some rough ground up in the lakes and it doesnt look as though they had a light work load? Giro 2,648
Andy did many of the Minshaw dogs struggle with their feet? noticed one or two of the dogs in the pictures were not blessed with the tightest of toes and I can imagine there to be some rough ground up in the lakes and it doesnt look as though they had a light work load? I had dogs with tight feet like cats, one had a toe off and the other toes "have gone west" smashed to bits, still runs like a young dog and has not effected ability.. Dogs are knocking toe every season for me... Quote Link to post
FUJI 17,327
That Kelsey bitch had good feet yet ended up with two "hammer toes"...the ones which dont make contact with the floor but it never seemed to bother her? Jack for a big dog had good tight feet was ran hard from start to finish and never EVER had one single problem with his feet,Bulpa had wrist bother, the Conan dog similar but for the most I got to run with or owned I can't recall any having what I would call serious toe trouble apart from the usual knocks and jarring problems really? Any dogs in particular you think had dodgy feet? ATB Andy. Quote Link to post
redcharge 378
I wouldnt say any of them had particularly bad feet just not as tight as some would expect considering the amount of gear they have ran and im guessing you have ran some rough ground, I cant be arsed looking back through the whole thread but theres two dogs on this page that look a bit flat footed Jess and Patch. By the way this isnt a dig just proving loose feet dont always mean bad feet the same as Giro has mentioned tight feet dont always mean good feet 1 Quote Link to post

Guest born to run1083
Andy this line for sure has stood the test of time and obviously you've kept it tight to a degree with breeding best to best but off top of your head how many have been on the other spectrum as in any line you get the good and the bad. Has there been many honestly that you can remember that stand out to ya Quote Link to post

Bosun11 537
Andy, the Obo dog wasn't blessed with the best 'looking' of feet, turned in wrists too, the dog forever looked pigeon toe'd. I never thoughtTraveller's ever looked the best either but i've spoken to both owners and neither had any bother and both dogs ran hard enough. Feet are feet, what you see in a pic doesn't always apply in the field, some of the best i've seen have smashed to smitherienes and the worst have taken all in there path. Lets face it, the damage a youngster may take when its all keen an flat out, in the black, out of sight, can hinder the dog for the rest of its life an there is feck all we can do about that, no matter how we condition 'em. BLACKWATER... 157
feet one of the most important thing good tite up on there toes but strong bone without good tyres and the brain to go with it ,nothing worse than weak wristed dogs with fine feet , some of the pics of minshaws ive saw have a decent a mount of bone round the wrists something that i look for when running dry arable land as the get well chewd if your not careful, never been a lover off flat footed dogs ,most top dogs had good strong upon there toes feet as they were fit and conditioned ,colie and saluk have some of the best feet ever for running dogs pretty indestructable at times, same with afew deerhound crosses ive saw Edited June 22, 2012 by BLACKWATER... 1 Quote Link to post
