freelance 448
guys had a few back in the ninties but were not suitable for the land we were running so they went to good homes the only guys i no personaly who have had that blood is lads from liverpool , dont seem to be popular up our way since saluk types terrier typets took over but i like them , just not all the hangers on about a fourlegged freind, you have to remember i like collie types but i know there not great hare dogs ,only had a few who could rock them on good fast open land, but there good dogs as moochers and opurtunist ,got freinds in annan had one a part from that there to diluted now mate ,traveler a nice dog, swift not bad , but some are mongrly but probaly good mooching dogs , andy saw dogs all over here, usa, to there nothing that i havent seen , my old mate baz gorton had a few minshaws years ago , just dont seem popular round the east coast mate , p douglas had a well bred colie cross she could lift rabbs, m cglenn had abeardie that lifted rabbs roe sika hare saw several collie types not bad dogs , minshaws or should i say colie types be just the same mate ,just the dont need a hundred pages about them.to make people remember them, is it baz from burnley ? bg the dog peddlar yes whin i know him likes his nets like you but dont think he would come on here with the green eyed monster like you do you think your the only one that run big lands or had dogs with wind not sayin you havent done it but your a legend in your own mind you sound like someone who writes romatic novels poacher chased on the lords manor after one for the pot give the lads and dogs credit they put alot of gear away get over it Like blackmagpie said whin, the lads have put some gear to bed and its the internet so people like to hear about it. Its only the same as old shooting news and EDRD and you your self have put articles in EDRD, its just this a bigger audience and a faster response Atb Quote Link to post
freelance 448
suppose ive alway been brought up to be a bit careful as in scotland the laws are wee bit more severe mate , just a diffrent aspect to the way you flaunt youre self i suppose ,ye alot of us have caut alot of gear away 97 freinds of mine 179 roe 283 hare all legal lol, and thousands of rabbs on wide open biggish land takes abit of stopping but i leave things like that in the past or for close freinds and invited guests best way mate, dogs are dogs mate there a bit sport and if you breed clever you get good dogs ,and work them hard you get to see there good piobt and faults ,but when yousee lots of hangers on on athread who havent probaly walked the walk like baz a few others it make syou wonder the qaulity your talking to at times I don't doubt that whin, local to me i know lads that don't catch a carrot with there dogs and probably never will. They have never had quality dogs and never will and even if you give them one they would still catch fook all and fook the dog up because they genuinely do not have a clue. But i wouldn't call them hangers on, there just like other people in life and are happy with there little lot and what there doing. There not driven or motivated people, and are mostly like that in all avenues of there life, but that's just folk for you Cheers Atb Quote Link to post

baw 4,360
I agree with max, simoman, Jasper or even your understudy malt delete whines ramblings, I know it'll deplete the thread under the magic 100 pages, probably by 50, but it'll be all the better for it Andy, excellent thread, good book in there. Don't be surprised if you don't read some of the stories in adaptations from so called experts . Quote Link to post
bird 9,934
Aye i get your drift Whin matey,I don't think it's EVER been shouted from the rooftops that these types were out and out hare dogs as far as I am aware? Lamping anything that's worth a few bob was more their forte IMO? Exceptions to that there will obviously be though? Personally I think they have shown great longevity in this owld game of hunting? It doesn't take a brain surgeon to know that the blood of the pinnacle dog of this type in Blue is getting thinner in dogs around today but IMO some of the dogs since Blue have been bloody good animals and are more than worthy of breeding off? ATB Andy good answer andy, would you say then is any of todays dogs bred, is as good as blue.? The one thing comes over to me about blue is he was great dog with strike and (stamina) , but there must loads of coursing type dogs of today with the same attribute's .Iknow these type( are or were) bred for day time hares , but if trained for the lamp like blue , what great dogs they would make.!! johnny boy68 11,726
Andy you mention Bulpa,Jack and Chester as being among the best you've owned........were there many differences in there running style? The Bulpa dog was built very differently to Jack and Chester was his style more determined based as looking at him he didnt look the raciest, I know looks and build can mean nothing. Hope I got what I mean in words. Quote Link to post
derbylad1 293
So far this morning, the thread has stayed on the subject of minshaws and their capaabililties and not been been ruined by someone with jealousy and seems to have a real hatred to those that seem to be doing better and knocking him off his pedastal....hope the f**k he keeps away and starts his own thread. I'd like to know as wel,l how Chester runs/ran for obvious reasons compared to other Minshaws. Xena has a nice style to her running, with intelligence mixed with drive. Although due to her lack of age(experience) she can put too much into it. Hopefully with time & experience she'll learn to use the gears at the right time and the right place, giving her more energy/stamina for the rest of a hunting session. She's taken all but charlie (not sure if she ever will), so i'm happy with that but running with hares seems to be her niche. Edited June 5, 2012 by derbylad1 1 Quote Link to post
