I would say catching them hares on Altcar would of been a test for man and dog compared to up here in stone walled feilds.. I have never been just from footage of the Waterloo Cup its no wee padock Bet it was Red hot, did you every have any altercations ?? have you got any old pictures?? I would say as well Minshaw man if you run Mark, and come off on top you and your dog will be the first to have accomplished that on his own ground.. He has bottomed out at least 5 Minshaw dogs to my knowledge... I would not even gan to be honest, its such a long drive from here it would effect your dogs preformance on the night.. He has loads of footage on his dogs on you tube and on the lurcher and longdog forum, They seem sharpe enough and know the score Giro, if you are talking about the dogs that came down off Vic, both Traveller and Obo were damn good fox dogs, as were a few out of them. Obo's owner, as did Travellers, they used the dogs for just about everything. With Obo being an excellent Terriermans dog and he was put out to open stud, as advertised in early EDRD mags. Ness bred out of him to a bull cross was a good bitch on foxes, as was the collie cross Tyson she was put to. Sadly my bitch never fancied the fox game, they just wern't for her. she'd harrass and pull 'em all night but would stay well clear of the sharp end, let 'em up and start over again. And there lies the rub... at that time I needed a out an out foxing dog and was sick to the back teeth of raising Lurcher to Lurcher type dogs to see 'em not make the grade, i'd seen the Pie dog by then and got a pup and so for a number of years forgot all about Lurcher to Lurcher bred dogs and Minshaws. Thing is, I still belive in the type, as much as I admire 'em i'm not a 'genuine first cross' bloke, some of the the best dogs i've seen have always been bred down, whatever the cross and since the climate changed i've looked back to these types, my first ever post on this site was asking about Minshaws and what was around, big mistake on here back then! So it's good to see a thred about 'em doing so well. As for Altcar estate, yep, you'd get some good running if you knew the specks. It was hot enough and i've come unstuck a few times but if its right on your doorstep you get to know the place. Think i've put posts up in the past about different outings there. Pictures... Got some of my old bitch but i'm a million miles from Andys history, i'll get 'em sorted and put 'em up. Quote Link to post
