My new lurcher...

Recommended Posts

Just a quick update for those who were following.

Had her just over 2 months now and she's doing great, really bonded with her.

Just had her out on the lamp for half an hour, I know it's still early in the year and a bit too warm but it was a bit of practice for when the season does start.

Only have her 6 runs on a golf course, she missed the lot but ran really well. They don't half shift, she was right up the arse of them though but they just headed straight for home.

I was impressed with her returning back to the slip everytime after the lamp went off and didn't hunt up once.

Quick photo of her having her grub when we got back...

Happy Happy dog given a 2nd chance, happy owner, all coming together nicely

Just been out on a walk with her.   She walks off lead better than on. Pulls like a train on the lead but did settle a bit after a run across the fields. Off the lead she walks to heel. Walked her p

Haha that's unlucky mate. I've only ever gone lamping with mates but went on my own last night and quite enjoyed it. One man and his dog kind of feeling. Lol.

She is 24" tts mate. Cheers for comments.

She is deffinitely looking the part Gareth.. ..but i would be carefull on them golf coarses..the bunnie's are like shit of a stick and them putting green's can be pretty slippy and ruin a dog..i used to run a 21 in beddie whippet collie grey she was a light little dog but i ruined her on a golf coarse after she slipped chasing a bunnie..i don't exactly know what damage she done but she never ran the same again..i put it down to a snapped tendon in the front wrist..

Good luck anyway.. .

Cheers Millet, only just seen this reply.

Its one of them things really, ive got 3 permissions on golf courses, they hold good numbers and sometimes lead to other permissions if i do a good job on there.

I know they are dangerous places, but then i lost my last lurcher in an open field after only having him out 5 times so i think its alot of luck and fate.

Had her out last night to get a couple for the pot, my lady wants to do a rabbit casserole for the weekend.

She picked up these couple...

Just read this post through for the first time, great to see that you have put the time and effort in with her, good food, exercise, all the things she needed and it show's really clearly in the pics. You are clearly a good dog owner and deserve what you get back from her

Good on you mate!

Cheers mate. I've tried my best to bond with her, treat her well, fed well and kenneled warm. And hoped for the best. Cant do much more than that really.

I think she is gonna make a decent all rounder.

She is gonna see plenty of game this season either way.

Supposedly 2 and half mate.

She looks a lot older with that grey on the muzzle but her teeth are in good nick and she plays about like a puppy.

She might be 3/4 I guess. She can't half shift and she's nowhere near fit. Can't wait to get her in shape and see her behind a rabbit.

  • 2 months later...

This is her tonight 6 months on from when I got her back in May.

We had a few weeks off not so long back while I was moving house and swapping jobs so just kicked back in with getting her fit. She's in season at the moment so looks a bit soft but you can see she's taking shape again I think...

  • 2 weeks later...

Not long come out of season and had to have her head stapled last week after a barbed wire accident, staples come out on Monday so will be really kicking in with lamping then.

I don't think she's looking too bad, mostly been road walking...
