Guest big e
Every thing is new to him mate and he has a lot of learning to do.. once he is old enough and strong enough he will stop using his nose and use his eye's instead.. .. A daft question though mate you are not walking him regular with a terrier are you as they can sometimes think they are terrier's if allowed to do what they want.. Millet no mate i walk him alone ,it becomes frustrating when there are rabbits i can see ahead but hes to busy getting the scent of them,he has took a few whilst out ferreting but only ones that bolt from the ground Quote Link to post
MATTI 34
If he is off the lead put him on a slip and run him up to the rabbit's, that way you can control where he is looking and keep his head up, hope this help's and good luck. Quote Link to post
gaz 284
I wouldnt discourage your pup from using its nose mate,a good nose on a lurcher is a bonus not a fault to get him looking more towards them bunnies you can see,get him on a slip and get yourself down to his eye level, then show him them with a point towards them with a word of ecouragement or a "pssssst".When the bunnies are on the move he,ll see them. Then after a bit and repeating this a few times in futre when you give him the command of psssst he,ll start looking, you can be sure of that Quote Link to post
jembo 0
my pup is just a year old, and he still goes around with his nose to the ground. every now and again he will see and chase, but is too late! I am quite happy that he is doing this at the moment, as it will all come in time. yes i have felt frustrated at times, but i know he will get it right when he is ready. once he knows what he has to do, the nose to the ground will act as a positive. mattygg 0
Have you got an older lurcher or a mate with an older one, you will soon find that it will run on with another and start to see what it is after, if not let us all know where you are in the country and I am sure someone will be willing to have a mooch around with you. All the best Matt Quote Link to post
