mally 832
I use the panacur 10% dog worming liquid mate 3 times a year and drontal just the once. I'm not convinced drontal does the job 100%. I also give the panacur 10% everyday for a week (at the recommended dose) to treat for lungworm every May. I also give the advocate in May, that treats worms but not tapeworm.
skycat 6,173
Change your wormers every now and then: I use Milbemax every other time, and in between I use Drontal. Tapeworm eggs can live in the ground for several months, so if you have a garden and your dogs crap there it is very difficult to remove every trace of worms. Ditto when you're out and about if you walk where other dogs crap. Dogs can also get tapeworms from eating fleas when they groom themselves: if your dog has fleas the chances are it also has worms, but not necessarily vice versa. It is best to treat for fleas and worms at the same time.
Moll. 1,770
If it is the sort of dog which eats other animal poo....sheep, rabbit etc, it will also pick up worms from that.
