Elmer_Fudd 28
Hello, I have been very busy as of late and lost touch with a few people mainly Zini (Si) an Davy t 63 (Davy T) sorry boys!!! How ever after a very busy n hectic personal and stressful academic end to University ( woop) ... I decided yesterday morning after getting over the alcohol from the the 'celebrations' I decided to go see what the new R10 could do... So after over 6 weeks not shooting or going out I though lets go see what's what, with a stroke of luck as well the sheep at permission I had yet to shoot due to the sheep being there, had moved them on BONUS!!! So I got my self all kitted up n packed the ghillie as I planned on shooting in the day from a static position of the bi-pod, I worked out the distance and set my self up with a nice foliage back ground to cover me, shooting towards a bang so was very happy all set up. The rabbits would be the quarry for the day and well there are lots here and love to bask in the sun, and they are used to human traffic so the rabbits are very confidant here... So i was all set up and ready to go!!! It was as I expected full of rabbits going about there bunny business but they were all just slightly on the edge of what my shooting ability is, so I held tight and new sooner or later the rabbits would wonder into the kill zone... I didn't have to wait long out popped a nice adult rabbit so i lined up and put the cross hairs bang on the kill zone and out went the first kill to the R10 so I left the rabbit in place... then roughly 20 yards to my left and 40 yards out another bunny... lined up my shot and MISS... think i didn't quite allow enough windage... About an hour later I decided to move into the smaller of the three fields and shoot towards a trailer in the field, seemed to hold relavance for the rabbits to hide under and play around.. This was a wise move with two rabbits falling in quick secession to the R10 at around 30 yards... that was all though as my time was at an end or so i though... after collecting and gutting the days catch i saw a woody at around 50 yards, I had a post as support and no wind at this point over he went.. So after three hours out in the field I had a nice bad to go home with, I was impressed with the R10 and also .177 cal very forgiving if you ask me... all in all a lovely day out on the vermin... Signing off for now Gareth AKA Elmer Fudd- sorry no pictures as the new phone not got an sd card yet :-( I will take pics next time hope you enjoyed the read... 1 Quote Link to post
