Malt 379
Football is big business now and generates vast amounts of revenue and clubs are going to be bought out on a regular basis now I think,as we all know where there's money to be earned then it will attract rich people. As they say money makes the world go round.:-) ..although clubs like Chelsea and City will never be run as a profit making business as they are. They're just rich mens playthings IMO. Going to be interesting to see how the financial fair play rules pan out over the next few seasons..
gnasher16 30,025
I dont get that with you mate. Your always going on about sports 'getting with the times' and yet here we have a club that has money pumped into it and have won the league. Lets not forget there will be thousands of fans who are Man City through and through just like i am with Celtic and you are with your hammers so they are the ones that deserve to bask in the glory thay have now. Glory hunters can f**k off, they'll know who they are... If West Ham were to be bought tomorrow and you were gifted millions of pounds to splash on players i'm sure you would enjoy that.... afterall your a fan of the club and whatever that club decides you will follow..........am i wrong?..... Get with the times from a sporting point of view yes.....but whats ploughing billions into a football club got to do with sport ?....you think that sheikh did this for his love of football ......Why do the genuine fans " deserve " to bask in the glory ? If i win the lottery tomorrow i dont " deserve " to be rich and happy just because i happened to buy a 1 pound lottery ticket.......i,ll accept it yes but i wont rub it in folks faces and say " ive been waiting for this for 44 years " !!!! And no if West Ham were gifted billions tomorrow i wouldnt enjoy it whatsoever......i take pride from the fact my club is an old traditional club that represents the area, that is owned by 2 men who grew up in the area one of who lived across the road and even played for the club as a kid !.....i take pride from the fact we have players and youngsters coming through all the time who are products of this football club,i take pride from the traditions and values of the club that cant be bought for money.......for me sport is all about competition and proving truth.....i just dont see what truth Man City have proved apart from riches buy success, just because this is the way the game is now dont make it right. I could long for the days where 11 Born and bred Glaswegians played for Celtic and lifted the European cup but the facts are i'm never going to see that again..............ever!!! So what i have to make do with is hoping we can produce young talent and mix that with a few experinced players and we might, just might have the makings of a team that could put up a fight in Europe one day. Its very nice this fairy tale that you want to keep the club you love so dear as a traditional club but if the money men were to come knocking you'd be saying "Yes please!!!"......

rob190364 2,594
IMO, it depends on the extent they would change the club. It's one thing someone taking over the club and injecting a bit of money so they buy 3 or 4 top class players and become more competitive. But to literally replace the whole lot, buy a completely different squad, and spend so much money you could probably field two teams and they'd both be up there, it's just naff...........it just isn't the same club as it was. I wonder what city fans honestly think about what's happened. Obviously most of them are just over the moon they've won the league. But I wonder how many of them are a bit saddened by the fact their club/team is unrecognisable from what it was just a few years ago? I know it's a seperate issue and I don't want to turn this thread into yet another race thread, but if you'd have done a survey of all the white people in Manchester 5 years ago about people from the middle east coming into this country virtually every single one of them would have said send them back where they came from, guaranteed! (the red ones still would!!! )
SLiP tHe DoG ! 129
Whoever you support you can't knock Sir Alex's record, I take my hat off to Utd taking it all the way to the last game and then only losing on goal difference and being a Liverpool fan that pains me but Utd and City were the best teams by a mile.Poor teams don't win titles or lucky teams don't, all teams have good luck and bad luck it usually evens itself out. All the other supporters of the other prem teams should be wondering what they need to do to bridge the gap to the Manchester clubs as Arsenal were 19 points adrift and Spurs 20, should we all be happy scrabbling for the scraps off the Manchester clubs table. However City won the 2011/12 season,it will still say that City are champions! Im not knocking his record i just think hes a knob along with the utd fans
