different barrels?

Hi all have been looking at different types of rifle ( just sort of window shopping ) and would like to check if I'm right on the different style barrels, is a bull barrel a solid, thicker than normal barrel to reduce vibration and a shroud basically a sleeve covering the barrel to assist noise reduction,neither with baffles or anything inside ? Also what advantage would/could these have,and what benefit does a fully floating barrel offer , Any information/description would help thanks all...

Shrouded barrels have baffles in..my hunrsman only has one in due to be carbine length barrel..but what a difference, sounds like a rifle without ,but quietens it up a lot..fully floating some people say are more accurate..if there not positioned right etc..bull barrels I don't know..but shrouded barrels are good..but can add some length..in my case it adds 1-2" on barrel..and my silencer itself is only 3"added ..someone will probably come along with a better answer

Bull barrels are Shrouded barrels, both of these are a normal barrel with a silencer built in under a sleeve.

 

This is to get around the legislation in some American states that you cannot have a gun with a separate silencer. It is built into the barrel therefore it is allowed. Sold here as they look nice basically. Anybody who has fired one will be able to tell you that they are NOT as quiet as a normal barrel with a silencer on it. Hence when I got my Bull barrel Super 10, I had a silencer fitted to it!

 

Even the HW100 FSB (Fully Shrouded Barrel) sold in this country has an HW silencer supplied too!

Not Quite True Mike

 

There's a Certain Mr Nutshot who can make a Carbon Shroud without a Silencer attached, And trust Me i've fired His shrouded MFR with a 10 inch cut down barrel.

And it's as Quiet as My Nutshot Mod or any other Mod. If He went into Business alot of people would buy one.

Unfortunately it's just a Hobby for Him and he only makes them now and again mainly for friends.

But that is a modified Bull barrel/Shrouded barrel, not one straight off the shelf so to speak. If I could have got Mr Nutshot to work on my Super 10 I would not have bothered with a silencer, but I know not where he resides or how to contact him, so I went on the alternative route!

Does he do work on otherguns other than theoben then lads? It's a shame he doesn't go into business..I want to know how good his silencers are lol
