COMPO 54
Very interesting read. Personally I'd just build a fence and be done with it. John id just stick a gas gun in there job done deer jump fences, muntjac are very good at making holes in fences if they cant jump them. and you cant eat what you shoot with a gas gun...... hope the original poster gets this done......its legal, and morally right.......if you were near me i would come and help........as a shotgun only has a limited range with buckshot you could have people at intervals through the wood.. Mark White 25
job is going well went out 2 muntjac down and 1 cub fox all in 3 1/2 hours should of been 3 muntjac but caught me off guard as I was just getting into place used 12g sg so a bit bigger then the aaa head shot muntjac 45 to 50 yards dropped on the spot and body shot the fox around 30 yards dropped on the spot and the muntjac are still edible. I have put a red dot scope on the shotgun seems to work a little better for me. will be back out tomorrow night and early saturday morning so should be able to get a few more before the week is out. CharlieT 32
Mark Just a word of caution. Do you realise that SG is illegal, it has to be AAA only. Quote Link to post
Mark White 25
i was told by defra that AAA is minimum sizes not the only size sg and slugs are all legal although having read the act you are right it does not state or larger only in the act as a slaughter instrument I will just have to save my sg for foxes and get some AAA in the morning. I wonder why it say AAA and not let you use any thing bigger when it kills just as well if not better unless they feel less shot could cause injury. © is loaded with a cartridge purporting to contain shot none of which is less than .203 inches (5.16 millimetres) in diameter (that is to say, size AAA or any larger size). CharlieT 32
Mark I truly think that it was a mistake when they drafted the act. If you read the Scottish deer act you will see that it stipulates AAA as a minimum. That's governments for you ! Charlie Quote Link to post
